===========================================================================

Legend:

Physical=
These mutations are able to be determined before birth from specific chemical changes in their DNA properties.

Mind= A mutation that cannot be monitored through any kind of scientific means, they are unpredictable are are often considered highly dangerous.

List of mutations

Cherub Mutation

This mutation is a form of Cutaneous Asthenia, a result of hyper-elasticity in a grem’s skin. This extra skin causes wing-like appendages to protrude from the back, which are able to grow fur to keep warm, giving off a cherub-like appearance. They present in various shapes, sizes, and fur lengths, and in some cases even contain bone and muscle structure, enabling them to “flap”. Though useless for flight, the cherub mutation makes up for a lack of practicality with a unique look that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Horn Mutation

Present from birth, horns are a rare and mostly safe mutation that usually present as hardened protrusions on the head area, though they sometimes can be found on the tail as well. Varying greatly from grem to grem, they can range from a single simple horn to an enormous pair of antlers. Once a grem has reached maturity, their horns will stop growing. If broken, horns will normally grow back to their original size and shape over time.

Gold Fleck Mutation

Gold fleck is a vanity mutation used to make your grem glisten and gleam. When touched, fragments of these genetically engineered hairs break off and create a “glow” effect around the grem. Happier grems produce more gold fleck hairs, resulting in a golden barrage of glowing dust particles that will draw eyes from miles around. This cosmetic feature is a beautiful addition to any grem, but is not recommended for customers with severe allergies or cleaning fanatics.

This mutation is only present around the neck area of the grem, though it can appear in any neck trait variation. To the left, you can view examples the way gold fleck looks on short, medium, and long fur lengths. The material that gold fleck grems produce can also be collected and sold, and is commonly used for cosmetic products as well as arts and crafts. It can come in many colors, though it is mostly found in the 6 listed.

Scale Plate Mutation

This mutation causes a hardening and “plating” of the skin that toughens slowly over the course of a grem’s early life, not forming or hardening fully until maturity. This mutation is primarily used for protection, reaching density so extreme that it is even able to deflect bullets. The plating is most commonly seen on the tail area, though fully-armored grems have been recorded in the past.

Harlequin Mutation

The mutation has baffled scientists since it was first recorded. A grem’s body will present a false third blood, displaying what appears to be multiple recessive bloods from one foot to the other. This results in the unusual appearance of two differently colored feet, and is thought to be some form of a defense-mechanism, though evidence supporting this theory has been inconclusive. Research has, however, determined that grems with this mutation have a substantially smaller amount of recessive blood than normal, and are weaker as a result.

Begemmed Mutation

Grems with this mutation will experience gem-like growths along their back, sometimes appearing on the face and tail. These growths tend to begin throughout maturity and will grow for the duration of the grem’s life, though growth will slow to a near-stop as they reach their late years.

These crystal-like growths can present in a wide array of different shapes and colors, and in some cases can be problematic if not properly maintained. Some grems will grow gems more quickly and in less fortunate areas (such as near the eyes), and must have their gems trimmed or filed down to prevent injury.

Powers Mutation

Powers are a dangerous game of chance for grems. They are latent at birth and can manifest in a number of ways at any time in their lives. This awakening of powers harnesses the key to becoming as close to the grem’s doppelganger dimension as possible without becoming a cypherus. Each power is different, some being more general or specific depending on the individual and their own strength. They tend to present in specific elements (fire, wind, earth, liquid, gas, and mind) and are controlled primarily through the hands. Grems possessing powers are considered dangerous and are flagged as kill-on-sight once discovered, so powers are generally kept secret.

can magic grems control certain liquids other than water, like oil or ink? or is that more of a cypherus trait?

MrGremble In reply to oO-Artsy-Oo [2017-04-14 14:12:24 +0000 UTC]

magic is something entirely different ;v; they bend time and space
the powers mutation is strictly a mind thing, so telekinesis for example, magic and telekinisis are two different things

a grem can have the power mutation of controlling other liquids like ink, but only that liquid
so they can control water or blood, but not them both at the same time

Is there a way to add a mutation to a grem or do they already have to have one?

MrGremble In reply to ChaoticPirate [2017-04-01 21:56:35 +0000 UTC]

a grem needs to have a mutation beforehand, mutations cannot be added at this time

Cherub mutation and scales would look badass on a Grem. Just saying. <3

How much would including a mutation cost in a MYO or Custom?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Shadzerios [2016-12-14 17:36:06 +0000 UTC]

they cost from $10 to $50 depending on the mutation
but we dont sell them, im just providing you a price

I have a Grem with the Magic Mutation and I was wondering what abilities that includes.
Does it fall under the Power Mutation or is it different?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to virune [2016-12-03 19:34:51 +0000 UTC]

it pretty much falls under the power mutation! but they need their wand at all times to use it ;v;
you can pretty much choose what you want your grem to do for their power
sorry for not being so descriptive LOL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

virune In reply to MrGremble [2016-12-03 20:14:42 +0000 UTC]

Ahh okay! Thank you for the fast reply!

Is it strictly elemental, or could I also make her able to do things like levitate and move objects?

I don't want to make her overpowered or accidentally give her Cypherus powers. ;v;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to virune [2016-12-03 20:45:59 +0000 UTC]

levitation is perfectly fine! but keep in mind that she needs limitations and thats her only power /v\
but yeah thats fine!

Sorry if this has been answered, i can't find it being asked anywhere

Are mutations only sold on MYOs/Customs if you specifically state it, or is it possible to buy them as an addon if you have MYO/Custom slots open? I know we can only use them if you say, but like, would we have the option of paying to use mutations if we bought a MYO slot

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to SquidMage [2016-11-07 07:02:23 +0000 UTC]

mutations are sold on myos/customs if specifically stated uvu

Thlyatara In reply to ??? [2016-10-28 00:31:06 +0000 UTC]

Just a quick question, if I have a grem with the different colored nails mutation would I be allowed to change it for a different mutation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Thlyatara [2016-10-28 01:09:08 +0000 UTC]

sorry no!
that mutation is exclusive to old generation grems only, they are not exchangeable

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thlyatara In reply to MrGremble [2016-10-28 01:11:53 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay, thought I would ask! I'm considering trading for one with that mutation but they kinda need a overhaul and I was wondering if that was something that could be changed if I traded for them and got permission give them a makeover. Thanks for the answer!

L0UNGE-LIZARD [2016-10-25 15:04:33 +0000 UTC]

So I have a question(s)
Is there going to be a list for minor (safe) mutations such as different colored nails and luminescent markings? Are their other minor mutations like these?

Are these minor mutations free for anyone to use with an myo slot or do you need permission to use them, and can you use multiples or just one or two?

Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to L0UNGE-LIZARD [2016-10-25 18:01:04 +0000 UTC]

there might be? but there hasnt really been enough to really make a chart like that
also, luminescent has always been a free thing to do on your grem, different coloured nails on the other hand are discontinued and only were used to establish the old grems into the new rules ;w;

and only luminescent is free to use for any myo slot p much

CecilEggs In reply to MrGremble [2016-12-05 10:49:18 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for butting in on this conversation, but reading this makes me very curious about this luminescence mutation o':
Like how does it work? Are they markings that glow on the grem's body or can something like a body part like the inside of their ears, their eyes, their nails etc etc glow?
I haven't seen anything about this mutation anywhere before (and still fail to find anything about it even after reading this), so I was a little surprised to learn about this!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to CecilEggs [2016-12-05 14:49:07 +0000 UTC]

its just markings that reflect light or glow in the dark pretty much , nothing too crazy

Liyaloveswolves In reply to MrGremble [2016-10-20 19:54:19 +0000 UTC]

Okay so some context first.
I've gained an idea to have a cannibal esque grem (that's probably not even possible but this is just my idea) from an Myo or Custom, idk.
And my first question was; Is it possible for a grem to have 'false' teeth? (my idea was he or it got sharp metal teeth implants to help...with the eating..)
Second is (curiosity really) if I wanted too, could I have a grem based off food? (Like pallet and design wise .3.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Liyaloveswolves [2016-10-20 19:57:41 +0000 UTC]

cannibalism isnt allowed for a myo, its off limits unless you have a mutation of some sort
false teeth are fine, but again no cannibalism.

and aslong as it is within the grem2 guidelines then sure!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Liyaloveswolves In reply to MrGremble [2016-10-20 20:08:21 +0000 UTC]

Ooo I see, alrighty!
And mutation, as if any of the ones listed? Like begemmed n all, or is there a specific mutation for cannibalistic grems? (And only Myo's or Customs too?)
(And getting mutations for customs/Myo's is only from being given or..buying..? I don't fully know but if your given/bought it, it counts towards it?)

Thank you though! Sorry if I'm bugging you I'm just curious for future stuff...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Liyaloveswolves [2016-10-23 09:20:10 +0000 UTC]

well its more like an addon if your grem has a mutation
the thing is, cannibalism went rampant in alot of people making lore for their grems, so i had to snuff it out before there were way too many cannibal grems, thats why we mostly dont allow it unless they already have a mutation, because cannibalism is something wrong with the mind, so it makes more sense if a mutation was the reason they have cannibalistic tendencies

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Liyaloveswolves In reply to MrGremble [2016-10-23 11:54:59 +0000 UTC]

Ahh I see, I see. Understandable.
Alright thank you! And I'll assume to get one for any Myo would take being given it right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Liyaloveswolves [2016-10-23 21:03:49 +0000 UTC]

ahh
sorry im confused on what youre saying

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Liyaloveswolves In reply to MrGremble [2016-10-23 21:19:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah, sorry it must be my wording is all.
The question is, how do we get mutations for an Myo or Custom (if at all)?
