Description
(Drawing: 10/2018; graphite; 28 x 43 cm)
Length: 12-13 m/ Weight: 6-7 metric tons/ Age: Late Cretaceous,
(Info. Source: The Princeton Field Guide to Dinosaurs, 2nd Edition, by G.S. Paul; Switek, Brian (17 October 2013). "My T. Rex Is Bigger Than Yours". National Geographic. )
The one and only monarch of the dinosaurs. There isn't much here that I can say that hasn't been said already.
Art Notes:
With the debate of scaly vs. feathered T. rex being somewhat annoying and getting in the way of research, I opted for a middle ground. I took note of the positions of known skin impressions and gave my version of T. rex a saddle of protofeathers based on that simple hair-like feathers of emus. I figured that since this part of the back's integument is unknown currently, I figured it would be safe to place a saddle here. Even if this weren't the case, I think sparse feathering wouldn't be an issue either. Nor would the idea that juveniles lost their feathers as they grew into adulthood. On a personal note, whether scaly or feathered, T. rex is still my favorite animal and I find it fascinating regardless.

As of now, this is my favorite drawing I've done in this recent series.
