They're basically anchor points for rotation, since sketchup doesn't allow you to change the anchor points by default.

JumpMan can correct me if I'm wrongly assuming, but those little triangles are a great way to reference a "hinge" in a model with moving parts by rotating said parts on the triangles' corners (I usually use the 90d angle corner).  I like to color them red for visibility and often keep them as hidden geometry in my final models.
