Holy cats!
It's about time I uploaded a proper ref for him! He was seen in two pics almost two years ago but nothing solo, or even an actual ref. His design hasn't changed too much since Sept. 2013, although I did add bubbly spots on his cheeks that can pass off as little freckles for a froggy. He still has his fingerless gloves and strap. Still has that dorky smile. It was so weird seeing drawing Kai for the first time in so long, I do recall drawing him at a stream some time ago; but still. The wonders of procrastination, eh?

Personality:
Kai has a very laid-back attitude and a positive perception toward anything. He often plays tunes on his ukulele to liven things up. He believes life's mundane problems can "be handled in the most gentle and carefree of ways". Which translates to: Stay calm and play on.

Biography:
Kai wound up becoming adopted as an egg to two Pokemon, making them his parents. A Chesnaught and Pangoro, whose names are Sebastian and J.R. Both aren't natives to the islands, but moved out of the mainland to escape the aspiring and somewhat rabid Pokemon masters who are determined to capture powerful, evolved Pokemon like them, also sought after for their hidden abilities and unique movesets. When Sebastian and J.R. attended a performance involving a talented musician, Kai had finally hatched, the event unexpected but a joyous occasion nonetheless. The instant Kai was hatched, his first experience of life was the sound of music and of course, his parents. Listening to the performer go, it was there that Kai grew an immediate interest in music. The two would name him Kai, reflecting their life near the sea, as well as symbolizing Kai's strong passion for tunes.

About a year after Kai hatched, the parents decide to enroll him into PokeScouts, to give him a chance to be more social with the other scouts as well as grow his talent more. They managed to get Kai an instrument he grew fond of after listening to Tiny Tim records, which was the ukulele. Kai made some nice conversation with the other Pokemon who also liked music to be in their repertoire. In wasn't long until Kai ran into a Chespin and her trainer at the PokeScouts, whom were Lani and Kina respectively. What became a brief introduction soon grew into friendship as Kai and Lani both clicked with what they did. Kai was fond of Lani's outgoing personality while Lani was intrigued by Kai's musical ability. Becoming close friends, they were known around the scouts as being the impeccable duo. They worked very well with each other. Kina enjoyed having Kai around, finding his music very enjoyable to listen to as well as finding it cute to watch the two play.

Once Kai grew older, he became more focused on his music but also his training. There's always the inevitable rival or enemy to come in the future, so Kai wants to take it upon himself to train and protect his friends. This led to him having to resign from PokeScouts to pursue his own destiny. He dreams of finding the HM machine to learn Surf and be able to travel off the island for adventure, with Lani joining in. They both dreamed of seeing the mainland and they hope to make that happen some day.
