I always thought Tim Burton and Henry Selick would have been the perfect choices to make a Wizard of Oz adaptation. I would envision their movie being a live-action/stop-motion animated hybrid, similar to their adaptation of James and the Giant Peach (i.e. Kansas would be live-action and Oz stop-motion).
