~Gone Days...~

„Mom… why do we live alone?“, the Cub lifted her Head to look up to her Mother. Her Mother was the most beautiful Lioness in the World, she thought. She was old but strong and careing. One day she wanted to be exactly like her. A perfect Huntress, a good Mommy and a careing Lioness.
Cema sighed. For a Moment she stared over the dry Land, then she slowly spoke: „Once we weren’t alone. We were part of a Pride.“
„What is a Pride?“, the little Cub cocked her Head.
Her Mother chuckled, then she went ahead explaining: „…A Pride, my Love, are many Lionesses and Lions working together to survive. Just like your Aunts and we are, but much bigger. There’s mostly a King and a Queen leading them.“
„How many Lions?!“, the Cub squeaked excited. „Will we live in a Pride too some day?!“
The old Lioness shook her head, chuckling about her Daugthers excitement. „Maybe.“, she answered. „Maybe some day.“
„Do you were a Queen, Mommy?“, Issa flicked her big ears. Living in a Pride sounds so much fun. She wanted to know everything about it. She never had met ohter Lions than her Aunts and her Mother, or her silbings bevore they had died. Sometimes she missed them, but she couldn’t even remember them well enough to say so.
Cema laughed. „No, I was just a Huntress. In a Pride Lions and Lionesses have ranks. Such as Queen, King, Guard, Hunters and Huntresses… some even have Shamans.“
„Hmh… Will there be other Cubs too?“, Issa asked. „I would love to play with others…“
„Oh, there are many very often. But… Living in a Pride isn’t just fun and playing, my Love.“
„Why not?“
„Well… you have to care for others, hunt in a big party and bend to their Rules…“, Cema sighed, looked over to her Sisters, who gnaw on an old Carcass. „Not everyone is determined to live in a Pride. Your Aunt, Tae, isn’t for sure…“
„Is that why we don’t live in a Pride? Because of Aunty Tae?“, Issa looked over to her Aunts. Tae, the bigger and older one, just growled at Amu. Amu backs off. Issa could understand why Tae couldn’t live in a Pride: She ever was a big grump since the little cub could think.
The old Lioness just nodded. Her Sister always had problems to obey Rules and Authority. So they had to leave their old pride. And with them, she had left her beloved Mate because of Loyality to her Sister. She should had stayed… she should had… then her other three cubs were still alive too. But only Issa had survived the Dry season so far… her two boys had died first. They were much smaller and weaker than the girls. Issas Sister Mara, was the last one who had died a few weeks ago…
It wasn’t fair. She should had stayed with the Pride as she found out she was pregnant. Whenever she thought about it, her heart became heavy and torn…
She slowly looked down at Issa.
She looks so much like him.
Cema started to smile again. „I should tell you about your Dad…“
„Huh?“
„Listen up, little one…“
