Just think, how long is Toad hanging out in the back of that castle waiting on the odd chance that Mario (a strange plumber from another world) will somehow pick his castle to fight through so he can eventually tell him, "Nope sorry, she's not here" ... Does he then have to wait in case someone else comes looking for her? Like, is that his sole job.... just hang out to tell people there's no princess there?
