There is no World War 2. That means that Europe gets to live peacefully (for the most part). The peace treaties of WW1 are less harsh and put more emphasis on cooperation between nations.

In East Asia, WW2 was replaced by the Pacific War, a war that involves China, France, USSR and the US against Japan. It ends up with an armed coup after Hirohito's assasination which eventually degrades into a much worse situation, aka the Japanese Civil War.

There is no longer a Warsaw Pact, (OTFW and EADC remain the same doe), and instead it's named Comintern.

Decolonization occurs on a much slower and inconsistent pace.

The United Nations does not exist, altough the League of Nations is still a thing and as of the 1980s it serves pretty much the same role as the UN, just under a different name.

The Cold War is mostly limited to Asia, and with additional fronts in Africa. Europe is relatively calm, thanks to the buffer zone.

Germany is non-alligned, and so is the rest of Eastern Europe with the exceptions of Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria. Germany has an economic sphere across the Balkans and Baltics that keeps ties with the European Economic Union and plans to merge with it soon.
