Why do people give Papyrus the colour orange? he never ever shows it in the game!

Well, although technically not canon as we don't ever see his magic or anything, he's associated often with orange because:
1. color theory dictates that blue and orange are opposites. sans is blue, so...
2. he has an orange scarf, which is the most colorful part of his uniform. sans has a blue hoodie, which is the most colorful part of his outfit. therefore...
3. orange is a warm color, associated often with hearth and home, yet cheerful enough to make people energetic. this is very like papyrus' personality.
