I think this is one of your more "regular" looking pieces, and I like it just as much as the others. The more traditional portrait with more traditional colors paint a much more serene and beautiful (in the usual sense) than the harsh and striking pictures of yours.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of this, from time to time!

Thank you! This was a little doodle that practically painted itself. I was quite serene when I made it, but can't always be so with four daughters and a many distractions and stresses.

Aw, thanks! ArtRage is really fun to work with and great for strange textures and unpredictable effects.
Serene is good. This seems to be what I'm always looking for in a face or figure.

Thank you for the compliments! This flowed out quickly, naturally and joyfully, even though the subject is a little troubled.

If I were a dream worker (and I am), I would have long talks with this woman, had I painted her.

msklystron In reply to faeriecrone [2011-03-06 23:25:07 +0000 UTC]

What an amazing comment. Thank you. Creating her was a very much like that long talk. Time was non-existent as I worked to bring her to life. It was just she and I.

This metal look is a cool feature available on ArtRage. I find it a little tricky to use, but it just seemed to lend itself to this picture.

Are you showing it anywhere in the city?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

msklystron In reply to iamthemindfire [2011-03-06 01:16:22 +0000 UTC]

This will go in a salon in the east end. If it doesn't sell, I'll put it in the ad-astra show (sf & fantasy). One of my pieces (not this one) will be in the Eccentricities show at Todmordon Mills. This is a big show, juried (goes on the resume).

iamthemindfire In reply to msklystron [2011-03-06 01:25:11 +0000 UTC]

When is the ad-astra show and the Eccentrics happening?I'm Queen west so I usually don't venture far to view art.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

msklystron In reply to iamthemindfire [2011-03-06 03:33:42 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for asking. Eccentricities is from March 31st to April 17th. Ad-Astra is April 8th to 10th. I show mostly in the east end, but I intend to change that. I'd like to show on Queen West and in the distillery in time. I'm waiting to find out whether I passed the jury for the Outdoor Art Exhibition in Nathan Phillips Square in July. It's tough to get in this show so wish me luck.

The Nathan Phillips Square is real tough to get into.I remember the first one they had. There were still old Hippies around showing their arts and crafts.I think i still have a carved tree spirit tucked away some where. Now its ultra professional. The Queen Street Art Crawl is always Pretty Good ans Parkdale has a three day art show.I'll let you when the Parkdale one is and the cost of a table or tent. Its pretty well attended.

msklystron In reply to iamthemindfire [2011-03-08 03:20:41 +0000 UTC]

if you have a tree spirit, you must be an old hippie too.

Thank you! I'd love to know more about the Parkdale show. In general, I'm trying to find more indoor locations for my work... Art and the elements don't mix. Also it's too much like camping. So I limit outdoor shows to the good ones.

Thank you!

I'll join Earth Gaia when I have a moment. In the meantime, I think ~whoremoans work would really fit the group's theme. *Kneeling-Glory writes a lot about social causes and sometimes about the environment. You can start with these two and check out their faves to find others.
