Commission the seventh in my recent drive is a real doozy, but man, was it fun! It's for , a fellow MSTie, and he wanted my take on episode 706 "Laserblast". From the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Amazing Colossal Episode Guide: "A pathetic androgynous blond kid from the California desert finds a ray gun left by fat-assed aliens in the sagebrush, is harassed by strangely Southern dope-smoking cops, develops a large hole in his chest, kills Roddy McDowall, and eventually dies himself. Meanwhile, nothing happens. Eddie Deezen rounds out the cast as the hurtful geek." Yeah, it sounds terrible, but Leonard Maltin gave it two-and-a-half stars (an honor also bestowed on such films as My Dinner With Andre, Unforgiven, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), so really, how bad can it be?
Fans of MST3K know why this episode is significant - it was the last one to premiere on Comedy Central in May 1996, before the show jumped to the SciFi Channel the following year. And as such, it was the last appearance of Trace Beaulieu, my favorite MST3K performer and (in my opinion) the one true Crow. "Won't he be surprised when he finds out that it doesn't go pow, but fffwisshhh!"

Yes he did. Laserblast is notable for being Eddie Deezen's film debut (right before his appearance in "Grease")

"Please... stop..."
The one thing that made that episode worth watching was the supporting roles of the "turtle aliens" with the oddly-shaped tailsections.
