Description We went back to the zoo today. What a great experience it always is! The fennec foxes are always either motionless because they're sleeping, or zipping around their cage at 60 mph. This time, a zoo volunteer held one for us. They love to be held because they were hand raised. What a difference it made -- and a photo op!

Sometimes people keep them as pets. I personally would advise against it if you are lazy, and not an experienced pet owner. You would also need to check the local laws regarding exotic pets, and visit someone who has a pet fennec fox to determine if the animal is right for you......

From what I saw at that zoo, I wouldn't try having one as a pet.  These guys get pretty hyper!  Thanks.

The fennec foxes were our favorite animal, this trip.
I've put a couple pictures on the zoo's FB page, and also e-mailed a few to them, offering to give them my best shots each time I go, as a donation. They haven't replied. Oh, well -- I don't expect everyone to be a nuts over photography as you and I are.
