The sprite is pretty well-made. Only thing is, I think he should be a bit more blueish though and more shiny.
As for the animation, it's smooth. Since I can kind of tell that you were going for a squishing animation of sorts, I'll say that it might have looked better had you made the entire sprite squish instead of at his "hips".
