I liked the idea of having linked regions but it didn't have that oomph you get with the others. Unova is a prime example of this, it pulled away from the norm in pokemon

Exactly, Johto relied way too much on the success of Kanto
While Hoenn tries something new, it ends up nearly flopping because by that point, the Pokemon craze had died down a lot

yeah I remember it being on tv in the gaming awards and won. It was an amazing region hoenn. I just can't bring myself to play it due to the speed the pokemon come into a battle and the text speed compared to my other games

Oh it's not that bad, Sinnoh was a lot worse with that stuff
If there's ever any reason to never play Hoenn again, it's the universally accepted fatal flaw...

I never found it that slow
I just hate it when I get to the Sea Routes... This is why Gen V said screw it with the HMs
