Does anybody besides me hate that butterfly in 'The Last Unicorn'?If I was the unicorn I'd be pissed. so I made a doodle :3 too lazy to ink or color it nicely...so yeah. and I just noticed the horn in the first panel is ugly while coloring...
I put spotties on it so it is now a Muddicorn. :B

ok, at first i did hate him, but thean i figured what's the point of giving a stright answer and i kinda started to like the way he spoke in ridels. he was kinda funny if you ask me.

Lol, I re-watched this movie the other day, and I thought the notion of butterflies only speaking in song was kinda sweet, but at the same time GAWD he was pretty random and annoying -___-

Personally, I love the butterfly in the Last Unicorn. Not only was he funny (he spoofs the whole "sage that gives wisdom that directs the hero toward the quest" archtype, being young and silly instead of old and wise) but I felt the unicorn took herself way too seriously.
She was so used to all the creatures in the forest knowing her and revering her that when the butterfly made a silly answer, it was just humbling enough that I felt it did her some good. This is the same unicorn that mostly stayed in the lilac wood to look at her own reflection in the clear little pond for centuries; a little humility goes a long way.

Actually, I don't mind the butterfly at all. He provides some necessary comic relief (the movie would be pretty solemn without the humor), and he does give the unicorn an important clue concerning the whereabouts of her people.
