The only time I use a base is when I'm either drawing for study with a model, or when I can't draw it myself, but well learn to later on. But for the most part, I draw free handed. It's only difficult because of the shape and curves of their spine. Other than that, it's just about drawing it in order; picture the image, draw the gesture, give the gesture form and 'movement', structure the anatomy, put in the features, and finalize with lighting, shading, and shadowing.

I would advise to practice with human anatomy first and get used to drawing that. Then you can apply that anatomy to the Elite structure. That's what I do. I know that I'm not a pro at this, but still, I'm trying. That's all that I can do.

You do awesome! But I really cannot do a human head...maybe a body pose that's it...is that a problem? for a fellow artist like me?

Of what now? You want an Elite body pose? I haven't had the time to fix up the paper sketches that I've been doing in class, but I'll post them up as a "work in progress" (WIP) sketch doodle-dump. Keep an eye out for 'em.

But if you have a pose in mind then you can still tell me so that I can draw it later as homework for my Life Drawing class.

I just have a way for finding a way.

I actually used three different types of anatomy to come up with a basic one for the Elites; the neck of a horse, the feet of a camel, and the rest is a human figure but with a hunched back.8D The back part is a bit difficult for me...

That's really funny, I've been thinking pretty much the same thing! Neck of a horse or a dog, preferably a horse though and definitely camel's feet!

I just use the naked Arbiter's shapes from Halo 2, that way I don't have to guess so much.

Ha ha, not in THAT sense no, merely for anatomical use.

I'm so happy they did show a nude Elite, otherwise I would have had to guess at their anatomy. It was so funny though, the first time I played Halo 2, I was just thinking to myself 'I wonder what they look like underneath their armour' and the next thing I knew, BOOM - nude Arbiter! It's absolutely true, lol!

And my first thought form seeing him nude was how effeminate he looked. I mean, very narrow waist and wiiiiide hips ... just like a woman.
