Description
Star Wars days continueI watched The Phantom Menace today and to be fair it's not nearly as bad as I remember it. Cut Jar Jar Binks's scenes from it and you've got a decent movie there.
Anyway, inspiration for this comic came from the scene where Qui-Gon has approached the Jedi Council concerning Anakin Skywalker.
Now, am I the only one who thinks Qui-Gon is an insensitive bastard in this scene?
He might as well state outright that he is bored of Obi-Wan and wants to train somebody with more potential. And to make matters worse, the Council insultingly tell Obi-Wan he isn't good enough for the trials. Ouch. Even to somebody who's part of a religion that tries to hide negative emotions, that's got to hurt.
So, Obi-Wan is left with a Master who's sick of the sight of him and a Council who think he is shit. On top of that, I read a few days ago that Obi-Wan was nearly 13 when Qui-Gon took him on, meaning that he very nearly didn't get to be a Jedi at all. And even then he had to ask Qui-Gon to train him.
Harsh.
