Description

Name & Appearance

Nettlekit | Nettlepaw | Nettlepounce

Male || Warrior || Owlclan

A young tom who sleeps among the flowers, with claws as sharp as a rose's thorns.
A slim tom with spiky white fur and a half-brown face, long, dark brown tail, and sectoral Heterochromia

Nettlepounce is a bit taller than your average tom, but is still longer than he is tall. He is well muscled, though not as much as he was when he was younger. While his pelt is primarily white, his face has patches and freckling of dark brown while his tail is entirely dark brown that becomes lighter the closer to the base, his back being slightly darker than the rest of his white body. His most striking feature however are his eyes. Nearly the entirety of them is a dark amber, though he has blue patches within them. He is nearly free of any scarring aside from the marks on his left ear. When he walks, he seems to have a constant hop in his step, head held high.

Biography

pre-birth;;
written by @/simfeny

    Snowtail and Emberflight were a very loose couple. Snowtail was a serious tom who took his duties as one of the senior Warriors very seriously. He would often spend his time looking in on training Apprentices or helping in patrols. Emberflight was a strong and fierce Warrior who resigned to help in the Nursery after being blinded by a rat. Neither of them were especially sociable, so everyone was very excited to hear that the two had decided to become mates. They were very quickly disappointed, however, to find how unexciting this piece of gossip really was. Emberflight and Snowtail weren't particularly affectionate and they only ever shared a nest when the Nursery became too crowded or loud for Emberflight to stay in. While their relationship might have seemed cold and distant to some, they were happy. They bonded over their shared intelligence and instead of showering each other with compliments like other couples, they would spend hours talking about current events, musing about the Warrior Code and occasionally debating it.

    They had never really intended to have kits, but when it happened anyway, neither of them were upset by the matter. Emberflight was actually quite pleased to take care of her own kits for once rather than babysit someone else's, and Snowtail was happy at the thought of raising kits to be strong Warriors.

kithood;;

    Even before he could see he did things to make his mother chuckle, from crawling over his siblings to drink only to suckle on the tips of their ears to sleeping on his back with his paws stretched out in the air. He was second born to a litter of three- born after Blizzardkit and before Sparrowkit, though he always acted like a younger brother to them. When they all had opened their eyes, they were already going on adventures, Blizzardkit tending to take the lead while Nettlekit cracked jokes that even other kits would roll their eyes at- though he knew they were secretly laughing. He adored just exploring with his siblings and getting into trouble. He admired his sisters way with words, and he feared that training would take that away from him. He was afraid to grow up, and this would frustrate his father going forward. Still, he was happy his siblings could be excited to train.

    His mischievous adventures with his siblings would suddenly end after they got into a great deal of trouble after messing in the herb storage, Sparrowkit no longer wanting to join them due to fear of being held back. The terrible trio became the terrible duo, which became just the terrible single after they realized they didn't have their charmer to get them out of trouble. Though he and his siblings still played, he missed their adventures, and lingered near the warriors den alone to pester the older cats. One newly made warrior, Littlewhisker, humored the white kit, and when she had free time she would take Nettlekit with her to pick flowers while he told her jokes- with his mothers permission, of course. It became his favorite thing to do, among other things. He hoped that, if he had to become an apprentice, that Littlewhisker was his mentor.

adolescence;;

    Little ol' Nettlekit- now Nettlepaw - was thankfully assigned Littlewhisker as a mentor. He always looked forward to training due to how cheerful Littlewhisker was, and her patience with him made him eager to please her. He tried his best to spend time with his siblings, but their drives to keep on progressing left him feeling abandoned, often turning to Littlewhisker for comfort, or to distract him with more training when he felt even too emotional to speak. When their first group training sessions began, Nettlepaw became 'friends' with a few other kits, at least, he thought he was. In truth, he was quite naive to the fact they didn't really enjoy his company. Still, he tried to be on their good side and hang out with them when he could. Most of the time however he just hung around in the background. Eventually, the other kits would get so sick of him that they began to tease him. He'd laugh along, at least, until he realized he was the joke. He began to avoid them when he realized they didn't want him around anymore... However two cats in the group seemed to enjoy making him upset. They would take any opportunity they could to tease him, and he did his best to just laugh it off, though in the future the words would cut too deep.

    As training went on, Nettlekit began to learn quicker and quicker. Though he wasn't the best at fighting, his hunting skills were excellent, excelling in even the harshest of conditions. Littlewhisker was deeply proud of her apprentice, and Nettlepaw was looking forward to the day where she would see him become a warrior. He crushed on the she-cat pretty hard as well, wanting to spend more and more time with her. He told cheesy jokes and would decorate her fur with flowers on some days, and he was happy- even if he couldn't spend as much time with his siblings, he found someone else to spend time with- someone he loved dearly.

    One Leaf-Bare morning, Littlewhisker came into the apprentice den to wake Nettlepaw up for a patrol. Tired from the previous days training, the young tom didn't respond to her attempts to wake him, so she simply let him rest while she went on patrol with another cat. Nettlepaw woke up to horrific news. During a territory dispute between a pair of loners at the Northern Pond, Littlewhisker was killed defending her clan mate. Nettlepaw was distraught, saying if he'd only woken up when she asked then he could have saved her. Guilt ate him from the inside. He helped to bury her and sat vigil all night for her.

    Nettlepaw was passed on to another warrior, Badgertail. His training wouldn't continue for quite a while as he had time to mourn, but it was still clear that he wasn't putting his all into training. Badgertail had little patience at first and trained him hard when it came to fighting. He channeled his frustration and anger of Littlewhisker's death into his training, delivering swift hard blows and tackles. Though he had a way of letting out his emotions, he was now really alone. When he could, he'd sneak away to lay in the flowers, laying among them and napping in the sunlight, and occasionally putting them in his pelt.

    One night Nettlepaw would suddenly wake up to the feeling of someone falling against him. A younger apprentice, Lightpaw, was sneaking out of camp. Rather than chew her out, Nettlepaw would join her on this little adventure. While he mainly went with the younger she-cat to protect her, part of him missed the adventures he and his siblings would go on when they were kits, so how could he deny such an opportunity? Their first adventure would lead the two to a firefly grove, where they spent a fair amount of time chasing the little suns and playing. It was only the first of many adventures.

    One night however, their late night adventures took a turn. Not long after sneaking out of camp, Nettlepaw and Lightpaw would run into a badger worringly close to camp. Highly defensive over its nearby meal, it began to charge the two cats. Nettlepaw led the badger away from Lightpaw but he managed to be cornered. Before the badger could harm him Lightpaw dived after, clawing its face and managing to chase it off. Being the bit baby he is, Nettlepaw cried against Lightpaw. However not because he nearly died, but because Lightpaw risked her life to save him. If his only friend had gotten hurt, he'd be hurt.

With a newfound fear for badgers, Nettlepaw's training under Badgertail continued until he would become a warrior.

prime;;

    Alongside his siblings once more, Nettlepaw had his cecemony with his brother and sister, where he was named Nettlepounce for his excellent hunting skills and playful nature. During their vigil, he stared up at Starclan, hoping that Littlewhisker was proud of him, and prayed that she was happy, where ever she was. He had wished he could spend his warrior days with Littlewhisker, however he was grateful to spend time with his siblings again, annoying them with his awful jokes, adoring their occasional chuckles and even their sighs of disapproval at his more cheesy puns. What he thought would be the hardest moons of his life actually became the easiest, happily together with his family again to fill the void that Littlewhisker had left. Though eventually they'd have different schedules- and even would gain apprentices. A moon after his sister gained an apprentice, he too gained one, and he treasured them. He trained them as Littlewhisker had trained him: with patience and nearly overwhelming encouragement. Cats could tell that he was becoming a lot happier, and much like his old self. His favorite thing about being a warrior became training the apprentices, and when his first apprentice became a warrior he was beaming with pride. He was the happiest he'd been in moons.

    Moons would pass, and the clans would reach a prey shortage, and Nettlepounce would be on constant hunting patrols to catch whatever he could. It was exhausting for him, and each day it became harder and harder to come back with prey. His main motivation however would be his sister, Sparrowwasp, who was nursing kits at the time. He did his best to at least come back with something for her and the other queens. The rats, who'd also been starving from lack of food, seemed to be stealing from the fresh-kill pile. Nettlepounce killed more rats than he could count during that season, however it wasn't enough. One day, rats came by the dozens to seemingly raid the camp, desperate for anything to fill their bellies. The chaos of the rat attack left everyone unsure of what to do aside from defend themselves, however they managed to come out on top. Sadly, not without some losses.

Nettlepounce's sister, Sparrowwasp, had lost her kits, and over time some warriors would succumb to their wounds. Not all wounds were physical. Sparrowwasp refused to eat or see anyone. Nettlepounce would visit her when he could, however he had no way to cheer her up, no way to see her smile. Whenever he did try and help, she'd hiss and shut him out. One day however would suddenly return to her Warrior duties, yet it still wasn't the same. Nothing Nettlepounce could do would make her better, and she began to avoid him. He gave her the space she wanted, though it hurt to see her so cold.

    A major loss during the rat attack was the loss of his mother, Emberflight, who'd been killed by the rats. Nettlepounce struggled to handle the passing of another cat so close to him. He spent a great deal of time away from camp, lingering around Littlewhisker and Emberflights graves.

    Eventually, Sparrowwasp would become deputy. Nettlepounce wanted to celebrate- though she hardly even looked at him as she swarmed herself with the duties of a deputy, only ever seeing her when she assigned him to hunting patrols. He desperately wanted things to just return to how they were when they were kits, getting into trouble and laughing, when everything was so simple. He just wanted his family back.

When his mother, Nettlepounce felt truly alone. Sparrowwasp, now Sparrowstar, was too busy to spend time with him, and Nettlepounce didn't know if Blizzardspirit even wanted to be around him. In a clan full of disciplined, proud cats, Nettlepounce struggled to make friends. He doesn't feel like he truly belongs in Owlclan, the only things keeping him around being his family and Lightwatcher.
