Description
Screaming.The beige Pegasus shrieks.
The constant screaming.
She cries louder as the blade draws closer to her.
I hate it.
Silenced by the blade, the Pegasus stops screaming.
Finally.
Her body hangs from the harness, limp, lifeless, and cold. Like a broken toy, devoid of its stuffing. Blood drains from the slit running the length of her body, flowing into the vats below. It spills and spurts and splatters, some landing in splotches on my lab coat, staining it redder.
Once upon a time the lab coat was a pristine white.
Not for a while now though.
The blood flow slows to a drip, signalling me to move on to the next victim.
I press the red button on the far right and the corpse flops down, joining the mound of the dead ponies, all drained of their blood. Once they had vibrant colours making up their manes and skins, but now they are a dead gray colour. Their colour drained along with their blood, leeched out into vats, and mixed into the stuff of nightmares.
Rainbows.
All around Equestria, fillies and colts will watch in awe as the spectrum stretches across the horizon. Blissfully unaware of the fact that their sparkling wonders are made of ponies' blood.
Horrific.
Horrendous.
Horrifying.
H--
The shrill screech of the bell slices through my self-hate session, signalling the next shift to commence. I step back from the controls of the vile death machine, making way for the blue stallion cantering over to replace me. He is at the controls in an instant, his eyes looking far too eager for the things he is about to do. I leave, unable to watch as he licks his lips, ecstatic at the thought of the next victim.
They're sick. The lot of them.
I walk past the stations, ears flattened against my skull in an attempt to block out the screams of each victim. The cries pierce my skull like bullets, leaving scars on my already fragile mind. I discreetly increase my pace to a slow canter, heading for the wash rooms. The sudden cut to disinfected white walls hurts my exhausted eyes, and it takes me a moment to adapt. After a second of disorientation, I shake my head and proceed to the showers. I turn the faucet to hot, and lift it until the water is crashing into my skin like tiny needles. The soap slips and slides across my skin, and I scrub it in for what seems like an age in a desperate attempt to erase the scent of blood from my fur.
But no amount of washing can achieve that.
Soap suds swirl down the drain as I step out of the shower, my mane dripping steadily. I grab a nearby towel and dry myself, my eye lids drooping as the days' turmoil sinks in.
I catch sight of myself in the mirror, and take a moment to examine my reflection.
Two green eyes stare at me.
I don't recognise them.
I wonder, how many ponies have I killed in my career here?
The thought slips into my mind as another drained corpse crashes onto the mound of the dead.
How many had kids?
I try to shake the idea as the machine plucks another Pegasus to be murdered. Her violet skin is glistening with sweat.
How many were married?
The mare strains against her harness, her wings flapping uselessly.
How many had dreams to pursue?
The blade of the machine draws closer to the mare's chest. Still she struggles. It's almost admirable, in a sort of sad way.
How many had bright futures?
The blade is millimeters away now.
And you slaughtered all of them.
I close my eyes and wait for the scream of death.
It never comes.
I open my eyes, and see the mare, still alive.
Her eyes are wide and her pupils are but pin pricks, and the blade is so close to her chest that when she inhales it scrapes against her skin.
A voice comes on the intercom, scratchy and cold.
"Apologies to station 650, your system is experiencing technical difficulties. A repair pony will be around shortly. Until then, please use the manual controls instead."
No.
No. No, no, no, no, no.
I can't.
But I must.
I walk over to the manual controls, and prepare to pull the lever that will end the mare's life.
And I make the great mistake of looking up.
I meet eyes with the mare in the harness.
Tears trail down her cheeks, her eyes desperate and soft.
She mouths one word to me.
"Please..."
It is at that moment something inside me snaps.
"No..." I whisper.
I brace myself for what I am about to do.
"No." I say.
I lift my hooves above my head.
"No!" I yell.
My hooves come crashing down.
"NO!" I scream.
And I press the release button.
The harness snaps open, and the violet mare drops suddenly. She cries out, remembers she has wings, and propels herself out of her fall.
"I WILL NOT DO THIS!" I screech, loud enough for all of Equestria to hear.
"I REFUSE TO KILL ANY MORE PONIES!" My vocal chords burn at my volume, and I can hear security thundering down the walkways.
"AND IF I HAVE TO DIE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN..!" I turn to look at the Security ponies', and I realise the boss herself, Rainbow Dash, is with them.
I glare into her eyes.
"Then so be it." I spit.
I launch myself off the ground, and look at the violet mare still hovering in mid-air.
"Fly." I say.
We do just that.
Shooting through the depths of the Factory gunfire follows us like dogs. The violet mare twists and turns to avoid it, and I wonder how on Equestria she failed the flight exam. She goes to turn a sharp corner, an attempt to throw them off our trail no doubt, but I know she's headed to a dead end.
"NO!" I shout, and her head whips around to look at me, "THIS WAY!"
She stops abruptly, loops backwards, and whizzes past me, all in one fluid motion. I follow her, but have fallen behind. She flies a good fifteen meters ahead of me, but she seems to be taking all the right turns. Bullets strike the walls, missing us by just a centimeter. I risk a look behind me, and see about ten or twelve Pegasus, all dressed in Security uniforms, pursuing us. Luckily though, it is easy to see that these Pegasus have had no practice at flying, and are not close enough to worry about. I sigh in relief. Maybe we can make it out of here. Just maybe. Hope flickers in my chest for the first time in years.
But is extinguished just as quickly.
A cyan blur zips past me, and I barely have time to see it. My head whips around to follow it.
It's Rainbow Dash.
And she's heading for the violet mare.
Adrenaline courses through me. The mare will not die. I won't let that happen. With a sudden burst of speed, I propel myself towards Rainbow Dash, slicing through the air like a knife.
I make it just in time.
I slam into her side, and we both plummet down, crashing to the metal floor. The violet mare calls out to me, and slows herself down. I turn upwards to yell that I'm alright, but before I can make any words out, a hoof has slammed into my cheek and I am reeling backwards in pain. Rainbow Dash has regained her composure, and is already hauling herself to her feet. I can see her stance prepare herself for take-off, and adrenaline pumps through me once more. I crash myself onto her, pinning her down with my weight. She screams in outrage, kicking my stomach in protest. The pain is staggering, but I keep my grip on her. I turn my gaze to the violet mare suspended above us.
"GO!" I shout to her, "YOU HAVE TO GO!" I see her shake her head, and start to descend to us.
"NO!" I screech. She stops abruptly at my tone.
"YOU HAVE TO GO!" I wince as Rainbow Dash kicks me again and again, "YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM!"
The Security Pegasus' are catching up to her, but no doubt they'll stop to help their leader. The violet mare hesitates for a second.
"GO!" I scream. She zooms off, out of sight. She heads towards freedom. My muscles relax in relief for a split second, but that's all it takes. My shoulders slam into metal as Rainbow Dash pins me to the ground, and I cry out in pain. The Security Pegasus' are gathered around, all aiming their guns at my head. Rainbow Dash sneers at me.
Despite myself, I smile. Rainbow Dash hates that. She spits in my eye, and I hear her give an order to a Security guard.
Probably one to kill me. Most likely, actually. The guard loads his gun, and holds it so close to my fore head that I can feel the cold steel. Rainbow Dash snickers, an evil grin plastered on her face.
"Any last words, traitor?" She asks, venom dripping in her voice.
"Shhhh..." I hold up a hoof to silence her, "Hear that...?" She stares at me.
I grin widely.
"No more screaming."

Well a Rainbow's tale isn't quite as nice
As the story we knew of sugar and spice
But a rainbow's easy once you get to know it
With the help of the magic of a pegasus device
Aw, thank you! I tried to make the ending as impressive as possible. Thanks a bunch! <3
