The Labyrinth of Death as it was called by the MeleMele Islanders was very much named based on half truth; Many Ghost and Bug type Pokemon called it home, including very dangerous ones like Cofagrigus, and while no one was ever known to have truly died in the Labyrinth's winding halls of traps and dangers they certainly would never be leaving it once they entered.

Fate was very much tempting to those who learned of it however, given the rumors of potentially Legendary or Mythical Pokemon that were looking deep in its ancient catacombs and thus many trainers and even gym leaders young and old alike who normally knew better would become a part of legend as either they'd be bound up by a excitable Cofagrigus wanting to add to its trainer collection or become cocooned in one of the many Araidos nests lurking from up to the rafters of the labyrinth to the dingiest caverns and caved in floors.

Above the resting place of many comatose, mummified trainers cast into an eternal sleep was an Ariados den where a group of the Spider Pokemon worked and weaved their way capturing and collecting any hapless trainer or leader of note they could find. Basking in the meager sunlight or morsel of moonlight in several gaping holes in the roof, Some of the prey were fully webbed up or were in the process of being cased, but once a girl or boy was fully encased they too would relapse into a deep slumber for the rest of their lives, kept immortalized by venom unique to these Labyrinth bound Ariados that their cocoons had been injected with.
