Here are a couple of inspirations for Terrence and Ruthie's sibling bond. It's not a lot, but I think they represent how I see their relationship the best.

Little My and Snufkin (Moominvalley): Terrence is a very aggressive, mischievous and brash kid while Ruthie is a pretty chill and easygoing fella. But despite their differences, they get along quite well, care about each other and overall make a nice sibling duo.

Fran Bow and Mr. Midnight (Fran Bow): Ruthie is a very sweet cat who cares a lot about Terrence, protects him and tries her best to keep him out of trouble. Terrence cares about her too, because she's his best and only friend and can feel really upset and lonely when she's not around.
