Description Constance the Badger Mother of Redwall in the time of Matthias.
She is holding the crossbow in which she attempted to slay Cluny the Scourge.
I desided to remake the old version of her. I am going to make some new versions of
the Redwall characters since I am not so satisfied of the Redwall characters I have already done.
Constance is one of my favorite Redwall character, she is a stronge and brave badger.

Aquarelle pencils and watercolors on paper.

Technicly that wasn't a crossbow but a full blown ballista.

Really? I remember it was a crossbow Constance and the beaver made. Also in the TV series it was acrossbow.
Anyway, I made the drawing with referance and there was a crossbow.

Well the way I saw it in the series it was mounted on a table. And with it being so big it is technicly a ballista, a siege engine.

OK good to know. I though ballista was a weapon that launched a large projectile  or stones I did not know that you could use it for arrows as well.

Oh yes they did. In fact a Gaulic chief who decided to climb a tree in order to take a closer look at the Roman army besieging him got hit by a bolt from such a siege engine. Nailed to the tree, his men were too nervous not to wind up like him so they just pulled him apart quickly so they can bury him.
