Well, I came across this amazing tutorial by ([link] ) and I found it so interesting that I though I should give it a try. As it is the first time I do something like this, I used a grid to aid me in copying the photograph...
And that's it. Opencanvas + Photoshop + A lot of time.

Thanks a lot! The problem is that I did the pic as an experiment, so the size of the original is not very big. A bigger print would lose a lot of quality...

WHOA!!!! This is positively gorgeous! Great realism and flawless likeness.
But I thought his eyes were blue.... Then I looked at the reference to see that the eyes really are brown.... Does he just wear blue contacts or something? Every other time I have seen him, his eyes are blue.

That's true, his eyes are usually blue, but I don't think that's their natural color. I mean, there are not that many Japanese people with blue eyes, so he probably uses contact lenses and he forgot them when that photograph was taken. But again, I'm just guessing.

amazing! the only thing is the bracelet it looks a little bit off. maybe u should shade it more and shade the area around the wrist. Did u use a tablet for this? if yes then I have a question about this whole tablet thing!

well.. I wonder if it's that necessary to have a tablet? cuz now I draw a quick sketch and then just put colors and make it look pretty real. But Maybe it's a lot easier with a tablet? I don't know. what do u think?
