Description For this one I have used two complementary colors to illustrate the opposition between the inside world of the character and the outside world , between what she is on the inside and the way she looks from the outside. A contrast between serenity and madness. Hope you like it

Hi! I wanted to tell you what feedback your piece got at :Traditional-Artists:'s Critique Night!

I hope the feedback and advice are helpful and you can use it for your future work!

"What a great first impression - the red is unexpected, but works so well, adding to the naked feeling of her shoulders and her isolation. I love the little details like the ruffles on the blanket, and the gentle motifs around her shoulders. Also, the way you’ve rendered the hair is great - it still feels soft while fitting in nicely to the general scheme of large, straight-forward colors. I think the anatomy of her arms gets a little confused though as they connect to her chest - there seems to be too much underarm space, making the shoulders feel too far away from the body.
I also think it would benefit from more dark space around the upper left, which would give it more of an impression of isolation or crushing inner feelings. Well done though, very nicely executed!"

"I like the concept on the piece and I think it's done extremely well, the red and blue motifs for good and evil, pain and pleasure, calm and un-nerved are well known and do very well on pushing this piece to where it needed to be. The "safety blanket" and mask finish out the concept very nicely. However a few anatomical things to mention. The separation of the arms from the rest of the body in the way they are in the piece is physically impossible, there just wouldn't be a space that large between the arms and the body. The other thing that bothers me is the length of the neck, but i take both of these things are probably a stylistic thing, but I still feel they could have been better more ground in realism. The blacks of the edge breaking into the false calm work nicely, but fells odd being only in the left corners. either having them a little less prominent or more showing in on the right would give the piece a more cohesive feel. Lastly on terms with cohesiveness, the reds on the left are rather less defined and less detailed, so again either do a little less power on the right side or more on the left *though of course not equal because symmetry loses interest 90% of the time*"

"I also like the concept and agree with others that the blue and red work well together, however, I think that the blue should be more intense and the red on the right side should be either blended in more or less saturated because it stands out too much.
The anatomy issues are there, yes, but the hand bothers me more than the arms because of all of the dots on the knuckles drawing too much attention.
As well, the pattern on the lower right corner also draws too much attention and it would be better if it was either left out completely or blended into the blanket more.
On a more positive note, I really like how you added the black to 'frame' and how the mask was stylistically done.
Keep it up!"

Thank you for participating!

The strange thing, the first thing that came to mind when I saw this was mermaid... I don't know why. Something about the dress reminds me of the sea I suppose
