Oh my goodness. Β Even in canon, this could definitely be a possibility. Β Great for you for thinking outside the box.

Thank you, it was fun to look at Jack's character in a different way

Excellent twist, I'd read that. I wonder what other villainous mischief he will be up to.
I agree with Ra-ooo, so I won't repeat what's been said.
Best of luck in the contest!

I've seen a lot of fairy tales for this contest but I haven't seen this one yet. Good choice, and really good twist you added to it, Jack succumbing to greed instead, that suits the story very well.
As does your coloring, the color choices are really good, harmonious and fitting to the bleak new ending. The red glow reflected on his face and in his eyes is a great touch too.
If I had to choose the strongest parts of this I'd have to say the idea, and your skill with color choice, texturing and the subtle lighting effects. It's really working well!
You definitely have the skill to explore colored lighting and larger shadows when you're ready to push yourself to the next step.

Thank you very much! I haven't thought about looking at larger shadows, so I'll try that out in future drawings.

You're very welcome! Yes, larger and deeper, see what you can do with it. Good luck!
