Description
Chopscotch was another early Sensei design for Skylanders Imaginators. We wanted to create a female character that was not the traditional "attractive" humanoid character. She is actually the first female "monster" character in Skylanders. Albeit, she is a cute monsterRelated content

Chopscotch is a character I have been asking for and wishing since Giants came out. It bothered me so much that in 5 games ALL female characters were either humanoid or quadrupeds. I always told people we needed someone like Eruptor or Wreckingball, just give them purple eyes and a ponytail or something, that's all you would need to do. Not only did we get EXACTLY what I had been wanting, but she carries a giant axe too! My favourite type of weapon. Suffice to say she is one of my alltime favourite characters, top 5 easily.

I'm glad you enjoy her design! Yeah, the starting point of her design was to create a female "Monster" character, not a female humanoid or quadruped. My hope was to make a strong, intimidating, feminine and oddly cute character. Although I do have a soft spot in my heart for King Pen, I think Chopscotch may have been my favorite design I worked on. I also think her toy came out quite nicely.

I have to completely agree and she comes across exactly like that. She's honestly everything I ever wanted since Giants.

no offense. chopscotch might be cool. but i think her gloves circle needs to be yellow same as her belt

I had a brain lapse when I replied to this earlier. The reason the toy does not have the Gold is because we added in the gold trim after the concept was complete. We tried gold trim variations and in concept, the gold trim on the gloves was too busy. When we saw the toy in physical form we added the trim back in. Sometimes we make changes beyond the concept phase. If you look at the Ember concept you will notice that her outfit in the concept is not black with gold trim and a gold belt. That is because that concept painting was made before the decision to make the new designs "Sensei's" with black/gold outfits and gold belts.

Haha....you're entitled to you opinion. We tried it actually. The only problem is that the gold on her gloves (for her character specifically) ended up being too much and drawing your eye in too many directions. Also.....believe it or not we have to factor in every area of paint when making these toys and some decisions we have to make so the toy is affordable to sell.

Thank you! This is the orginal concept art for her. She and King Pen were probably my favorite to work on. I think Ambush is my favorite to play, followed closely by Chopscotch

I love chopscotch, I can't wait to buy her as soon as I can!
I also have to say it's great to hear that you guys are trying to break out of the "attractive humanoid" thing in female characters more as well! I've always adored the unique character designs in skylanders & I would love to see more monstrous girls in the future

Thanks! Yeah, I don't have any problem with some of the more traditional skylander female characters but it's nice to break the mold here and there. I'm glad you enjoy her. She was a fun one to work on. Some of the Sensei designs went through numerous sketch concept phases. Her design for one reason or another came naturally and 90% of her design stayed the same from the original sketch.
