Nice. But his exoskelet looks a bit too thick. I don't recall him wearing a heavy one, just more like a lighter harness on his limbs or something. And I thought he had a more prominent, backwards facing hairdo. Other than that, it does fit his description very well.

Thanks! ^__^ Yeah, we took some liberties with the design--since he needed a functioning space suit, we thought it would be cool to combine the exoskeleton with it and integrate the whole thing into his body. I did some other drawings of how this suit connects into his body, and what he looks like without it on. And I had actually done some drawings of him with a light, ornate exoskeleton surrounding him, but everybody liked this idea more.

Did you see Trintignant? [link]

Thank you!!! I think the Captain was my second favorite character in that story. Pity how he went out.

I know right! Personally Hirz was my second favorite then it was the Captain. It also suck how she went out...

Totally! She was cool, but in both Forqueray and Hirz's case, I figured they'd probably die like that. Secondary characters always go out badly. At lest Trintignant went out on his own terms, though I would have preferred he stuck around.

I know right! Well I also kinda expected it cause my favorite character always dies or something else happenes to them. :/ I also wish Trintignant stuck around

Yeah, it's that way for me a lot, too! That's what we get for liking the more evil characters. They always die.

Yeah, that's the trouble with secondary characters--they're expendable.

Concept art for a stage adaptation? That sounds pretty awesome.

Yeah, it's been really fun! And of course it would be awesome to see my designs brought to life on a stage! For now it's more of a pitch/work-in-progress--there's no guarentee that it'll ever make it to the stage. But it sure would be an amazing production, at the very least as far as special effects, sets and costumes go!

God, absolutely LOVE this costume design! Did you create it yourself or the client detailed it for you?

MurderousAutomaton In reply to GasparNolasco [2011-04-30 16:31:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! They gave me some guidelines--we knew this character would be mixed with robotics, and that he would need a space suit, so I pretty much took it from there. His race incorporates a lot of style and ornateness into their suits, so I started with the sort of "face" on the chest and carried that look throughout the suit.

I like his suit, it looks like a alien.

Thanks! In the story he's part of a race called Ultras--they mix their bodies with technology, but keep a sort of tribe style and mentality. I think the author pictured them more wearing ornate exokeletons, but I figured if they're mixing their bodies with robotics, it might as well function as a space suit, too, right?
