More Creepazoids!!! To commemorate series 13, I thought I'd do a series on superstitions, and mix that with old vintage gambling tattoos! And what better day to post it than on Friday the 13th??? Spooooooky!

Yeah! He's meant to represent Louisiana Voodoo, which has been characterized as a highly superstitious belief system. His name is French for "gray", but also a reference to a "gris gris", which is a talisman used by voodoo practitioners in Africa, which was brought over to the States and adopted into Creole voodoo practices.

Thank you! It was an interesting theme to design around--it was pretty open as to what I could include, unlike other sets. Under most circumstances, voodoo skeletons and leprechauns don't usually go together.

Very creative using some the gambling motifs and diction to create the unique creatures. Cuphead had a hand I assume, especially King Dice?

Oh, maybe! Cuphead might have been a subconscious influence--I've been chipping away at these for a while. Probably since early September--I tried to stick to a schedule to make sure this set was done by Friday the 13th!

This theme certainly has a variety of sources you can choose from. Some that can be very graphic and others that are less so but still have the same sense of weight to them.
Well in any case it's still very amazing piece that has some fantastic creature designs that I've seen. Also congrats on getting it done in such a timely manner. 👍
