Another Americana character! This is Juko, the DJ of the Cybergreaser gang that the girls meet in Swellville. I'll draw his jukebox mixing table when I do the concept art for vehicles and backgrounds!See the rest of the characters so far!

I like all your works but this guy I like the most. Are these characters gonna be in another story? Also it was great finally meeting you at Chicago Comic-Con, and thanks so much for signing my poster!!!!! Β

Hi! ^___^ Thanks so much! Β I really like how this guy turned out. Β
Yeah! Β He fits into my "Americana" storyline--it's sort of a mix of all different kinds of American folklore, with sort of a Wizard of Oz theme overlayed on top. Β I actually envision it as something animated (like a CGI movie, series, etc.), so I don't know how or when it'll get produced, but I'll do everything I can to make sure it does. Here's a folder in my gallery with all the characters so far, and a little bit of the story:Β murderousautomaton.deviantart.β¦
Yes, it was great meeting you as well! Β You bought the Pyramid Head print, right? Β Feel free to correct me and call me a dork if I'm thinking of someone else. I hope you had fun at the show! Β I'm already looking forward to the next one. Β ^___^

Haha YES! I'm the person who bought the Pyramid Head and your amazing Venom sketch! I had a lot of fun, it was a truly awesome experience! I look forward to seeing more of your work! Β

That's right! Β I couldn't remember the other print you bought! Β I was thinking it was Bender, but it WAS Venom! ^___^
Glad you enjoyed the show! Β It was a good time. Β If you're local to Chicago, I recommend going to the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) in the spring, if you're not already familiar with it--it's a great show! Β It's loaded with artists and writers that have a great passion for their work, and the larger comic/video game/movie companies are represented, too. Β I plan on being there, too--hopefully with some new comics and art on display! I'll do my best to keep my dA account stocked with some new stuff as well. Β Stay tuned!

I love your designs, all of them are just so wonderful.
but question, since i'm a fan of American Folk Lore and tales, will John Henry be making an apperance in Americana?

Thank you so much, man! I really appreciate it. I'm super excited about this concept!
That's a good idea! I had considered him, actually, but I think Rosie [link] already fills the "strong man" role for the story. But I am trying to fit as many references to folklore as possible--maybe John could show up in the background or in some other way. I do have a reference to the fiddle contest with the devil, and Mark Twain shows up as a ferry captain as "Sam", for a brief cameo. We'll see what else I can come up with! ^__^

I'm curious as to why his eyes are different colors? He seems like a cool dude though, is he a possible ally?

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Desopilar [2012-06-17 17:56:50 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yeah, they're just supposed to be contacts. They're mis-matched to look a bit like 3D glasses, which were big in the 50s. And he's definitely an ally! He and the rest of the gang help the girls escape a giant bounty hunter themed after a 50s sock hop girl. She's actually the next character I'll be posting!

Ahh, that makes sense. I won't see her for a while, since I'm still VERY behind on deviations. I was good about coming and tackling some of them, and then I drifted away again.

Yeah, I do that all the time! I've had a lot of time lately because I'm on a break from Stern, but the next game is starting up soon, so I'll probably only be on here sporadically after that.

It's pretty sad for me because I've had the whole summer to do it. I only managed to get a job at the Renaissance Festival, so there's really not much excuse as to why I couldn't tackle these deviations. D:<

Eh, you must have needed the break--nothing wrong with that. I get tired of Facebook and stay away from it for like a month sometimes. The whole point of these sites is that they're fun, so when they stop being fun, just step away for a while!

Yeah, true. I think that if I were drawing as much as I used to when I was younger, I'd be on here more. Now I just stick to Tumblr, Reddit, and Netflix. Haha. And pop in on Facebook a couple of times a day. Just to see if somebody said "Hi" to me.

Ah, yeah! I don't get on Facebook very often--I probably should, though, since a lot of people I know are on it all the time. I just have more fun on DeviantArt, since there's art to look at and share! I haven't been on Reddit before--what's that one like?

Reddit is...hard to explain. It's hard to get used to how the subreddits and things work, but they have subreddits, kind of like forums? And each one is about something different. There are hundreds of them. Depending on the subreddit, [link] for example, is a subreddit where people post pictures of things that make them say WTF! There are also text only subreddits like [link] . And depending on the subreddit, some people are jerks, and some are super nice. That's a crash course. Haha.

Does the discoloration between his eyes mean that one is a prosthetic/implant glass eye replacement thing?

MurderousAutomaton In reply to lolzinator42 [2012-06-05 21:11:25 +0000 UTC]
Ah, could be! I actually pictured them as contacts, to make his eyes resemble old-school 3D glasses (which were popular in the 50s).
