Thank you! Β That show was probably responsible for my obsession with art deco. By the way, I love your avatar image! Β Did you design it? Β It's brilliant!

Oh, okay! Β Now I feel dumb for not knowing that. It's a snappy emblem, though! Β I've always been drawn to soviet Russian imagery, and its variations. Β Not sure why.

You are quite correct--propaganda IS awesome! I've alwyas been drawn to it for whatever reason.
Hmm... this will probably make me sound very un-hip, but I don't think I know who Dr. Steel is.

Ha, ha! You got me. Well, I figured I'd be honest and not come off as some poser who looks it up really quick and then pretends I knew about it the whole time! But I did look him up and he looks awesome! I want that coat he's wearing.
The robot band idea is really cool, too!

Sweet! I'll have to look him up. I just started my own YouTube account, actually. Figured I might as well--other people had been posting my cartoons, and lots of watchers asked questions and commented on them. Figured I might as well do it myself so I can answer them.

Yes that movie is great...also have you seen the design in the movie SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW?... it`s very cool and They use some robots with similar designs.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to rodolforever [2009-10-29 06:59:30 +0000 UTC]
Yes! That movie was amazing! Not so much the writing or acting, but the art direction was perfect! I want to make a movie in all art deco--something revolving around world's fairs or robots or a combination of the two, maybe revolving around the 1939 World's Fair in New York--it was art deco heaven!
π: 0 β©: 1
rodolforever In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-10-29 16:50:12 +0000 UTC]
Yes, that would`ve been awesome, making a film about the World`s Fair ...and robots attacking or an army of art deco soldiers or something will be great!! ....ART DECO rules...it shouldn`t have disapeared...I think it needs a COMEBACK!

MurderousAutomaton In reply to rodolforever [2009-10-31 19:20:17 +0000 UTC]
Totally! I think art deco's always sort of been around--it got kind of a boost in the 90s with the Batman Animated Series. I loved that show! My first exposure to a form of art deco.
And the 1920s film Metropolis was amazing!!! I was working on a story that was kind of a re-telling of Metropolis with the World's Fair theme--I think it could be really cool! I'm still playing around with it, but someday I hope to have a sort of "screenplay" worked out.

rodolforever In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-11-02 00:07:39 +0000 UTC]
YES! Batman animated it`s great I also got into ART DECO because of that series, it was very stunning visually and very well written.
I wish you best of lucks with that Metropolis screenplay it would be very cool tu have a new art dECO EPIC with all the visual effects technology of today

Totally! I loved the writing for Batman animated. I think my favorites were the Clayface two-parter and the smiling fish Joker episode! Such a great series.
Ha, ha! Thanks! I'm dying to see a great art deco movie--I guess Meet the Robinsons was close, but it retained too much Disney cheesiness... I think it would be cool to do Homer's Odyssey in all art deco, similar in style to the relief sculptures above the doorway to Rockafeller Center--ancient Greece meets 1920s style!

rodolforever In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-11-04 07:14:28 +0000 UTC]
Yes! the Clayface episodes were great...my favorites were the ones with MAN-BAT, THE LAUGHING FISH, and that one with the Mad Hater in wich everything is a dream (But thatΒ΄s only because it look like a twilight zone episode jeje)
I did not see Meet the Robbinsons...(dou you recomend it to me?) but I think the character design of the Incredibles resemble a little bit the ones in BATMAN ANIMATED
And yes Homer`s Odyssey in art deco...would be a real JAW DROPING expirience...also a FILM NOIR in black and white could be cool concept! I think

MurderousAutomaton In reply to rodolforever [2009-11-08 19:15:26 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, totally! Film noir is great! I think The Spirit tried to capture a bit of that, with some success. Yeah! The Batman Animated style pretty much set the standard for a lot of modern animation styles. Lots of shows imitated its character look, which I think was originally based on the old Superman cartoons from the 30s, by Max Fliecsher. Those were amazing! They were also art deco, back when art deco was still around for the first time!
Of course, how could I forget the Mad Hatter episode? I loved that one. Where Bruce couldn't read anything because he was in a dream--very creative for a "kids" cartoon!
