Totally! I love old propaganda from WWII! "When you ride alone, you ride with Hitler! Conserve gas for the war effort!"

Well, zombies can't eat robots, and without flesh to eat, zombies can't go on, so I guess the robots will win!!!

Thank you! I'm always imagining a future of robots overthrowing mankind. Don't ask me why! Must be my love for cheesy robot sci-fi movies!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

radu-jm In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-10-15 23:20:35 +0000 UTC]

cheesy or not... that's a very plausible reality, in my view.. ( we are to dumb to look after ourself...i think Asimov has a great story where this scenario happens... i'll see if i can remember the title and let you know)

MurderousAutomaton In reply to radu-jm [2009-10-20 22:46:09 +0000 UTC]

Totally! Was it "I, Robot" you're thinking of, or is that another one? I know he had a bunch of robot stories. I'm actually more worried about humans just getting lazy and letting machines/computers do everything for them--in effect, voluntarily becoming slaves. Hell, seems like most people can't even walk their dog without an energy drink! We're dangerously close already!

He has some 500 books (give or take) ... I think it's spelled GENIUS...
There's a few collections of robot stories...and one of them just got stuck in my brain... but not the title.. I'll look into it and let you know...

As for getting lazy...don't even get me started!
Humanity is way overrated!

MurderousAutomaton In reply to radu-jm [2009-10-24 02:04:18 +0000 UTC]

Ha, ha! Totally! And you know WHY humanity is overrated? Because humanity is rating it! Favoritism.

I need to read Asimov's stuff! I've always wanted to, but it's hard for me to find time to read nowadays... being the robot nut I am, you'd think I'd have read all of his stuff by now!

radu-jm In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-10-24 08:12:04 +0000 UTC]

You are dead right!

Asimov has some really cool robot series that could spark some imagination even in a SF hater
As for reading time... it sucks... i don't have any either.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to radu-jm [2009-10-31 18:36:07 +0000 UTC]

I know! I take like five books out of the library and read maybe 20-30 pages from each and that's it, then it's time to take them back. Maybe I draw too much... if such a thing is possible!

Next time I go to the library I should look up some Asimove stuff!

radu-jm In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-10-31 19:14:51 +0000 UTC]

i'm even worse... i'm buying them (knowing that i'll read them when i'll be retiring )

Never to much drawing... i could do it in my sleep!

Asimov is unmatched for robots and sf related stories (Bicentennial Man, etc)

Yeah, totally! I just saw a book at Barnes & Noble of seven of George Orwell's sci-fi stories--looks interesting! I need to read all these. I want to read some of H.P. Lovecraft's stuff, too.

hell yeah...
I'm trying to get to them... and i will (someday...)

News... roland emmerich will start in the near future filming for The Foundation (by Asimov) ...which is the biggest sf saga ever!
I was reading it as a child... so i must say i'm very excited!

Ah, sweet! That would be crazy-awesome! I'll have to read that one. Who is Roland Emmerich? His name sounds familiar but I can't place him.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to radu-jm [2009-11-21 19:53:23 +0000 UTC]

So 2012 wasn't all that great, huh? Seems like the stories always take a back seat in disaster movies! People just want to see effects.

As long as there was something good about it! That new Christmas Carol movie looks the same--like they butchered the plot/story for the sake of a bunch of gimmicky special effects and 3D "wackiness".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

radu-jm In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-11-30 19:31:04 +0000 UTC]

hehe!
I thought it was fabulous... especially the 3D wackiness!... (the kid in me comes to life)!

MurderousAutomaton In reply to radu-jm [2009-11-30 22:56:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh, good! Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised! I really like the story and the message the book has, though--did they do a good job of communicating that or did they just spend their energy on the slapstick?

You know I have often thought that if the zombies don't wipe us out then the robots deffinately will. We poor doomed creatures...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Saiyaness28 [2009-10-19 22:22:39 +0000 UTC]

That's true, then the zombies would run out of food because they can't eat robots, and then robots would reign supreme. Pretty grim future, that's for sure... but also totally AWESOME!!!

Have you seen Zombieland yet? They give you some very helpful zombie apocolypse survival tips. I don't normally like zombie movies but I loved Zombieland. It was hilarious!

Saiyaness28 In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-10-24 13:20:05 +0000 UTC]

I'd like to see that as well. I'd like to know what they did with it. As I recall, it was just a picture book.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Saiyaness28 [2009-10-24 19:00:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I don't remember the book too well, but it was mostly pictures, I think. I remember it being a little odd/creepy, so it looks like they captured it for the film!
