Here’s a new print for C2E2 as a companion piece to the Raphael I posted earlier: Cool But Rude [Redux]
I really felt like drawing Slash again, especially based more on the original toy, but making him a bit creepier and more unhinged. This Slash isn’t out looking for his binky… he’s out for blood.

Ha, ha! Actually, this is Slash, not one of the four main Turtles--he was a snapping turtle to begin with, so he's going to look more jacked by default.

Ha, ha! Thanks! I always thought of Slash as the "Venom" of the Ninja Turtles, so I wanted to make him look menacing and unhinged.

Ha! Yeah, the last one was more of a neutral/just-leave-me-alone type character, but this one is definitely out for some mayhem.

Yeah, he's pretty cool! For the original toy line, he was basically just Shredder's answer to the turtles--a ninja turtle of his own! He was big, with an evil grin on his face, which I always thought was cool! Unfortunately, in the cartoon show, they made him a total moron, and changed his design, so I didn't really like how they portrayed him. I always saw him more like the "Venom" to the Ninja Turtles, so I always like to draw him as more cunning and/or crazy than brutish.

Hah, yeah sounds like they had trouble trying to make him work out. Didn't stop him from being really neat from a concept standpoint though!

Totally! I mean, they nailed him story-wise, but I just hated his design. He looked like a big, dopey stegosaurus. I wish he had looked more like the original toy, or his current comic appearance. I think he actually was in the old Archie comics for TMNT, too, but I never read those. They seemed even sillier than the cartoon show.
