Description
I was reading Nightwatch (one of the many Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett [GO READ THEM!]) ...and this line pops up, care of wonderful Death. Being the incurably silly referencing person I am, I thought of Zhao. Yeeeeaaaah...thus it was imagined. Thus it was done.I am incredibly stupidly proud of this picture, proving I am a dork on many levels and highly dislike complex backgrounds.

Death (in THIS particular sense) belongs to Terry Pratchett. READ HIM! The qoute can be found on pg 291 of the book Nightwatch. READ IT! ...BUT DO GUARDS! GUARDS! FIRST!

I haven't read all of the, but am trying to catch up. Some of them aren't even translated to my language, so I read them in English (which is sometimes even easier, considering the translation killes much of the humor, as some of it doesn't sound right when translated to other languages). I'm rereading some of them and finding amongst the new ones

I am a Vimes girl, with Vetinari, Granny Weatherwax and Death all tied in second place.
I could see reading him in a different language causing all kinds of heck with the jokes and puns. I feel sorry for the translators who have to work all that stuff out because Pratchett uses them LOTS.

We actually have pretty good translators and they mostly manage to translate the jokes as they are in the original or the nearest thing you can get to it. But, yeah, sometimes, it's just imposibile, so they use footnotes and write the jokes in original.

Death doesn't really use sounds I think, he more "talks" to your very soul. You feel his words as much as hear them. I mean, he talks in CAPITALS, man. There has to be a reason for it.

If you are a fan of fantasy/sarcasm/British humor/sometimes naughty puns/folklore or all of the above, I highly recommend Pratchett's Discworld novels. Depending on your tastes, Guards! Guards! , Going Postal, or The Hogfather as decent first reads. Marvelous series.
