"Getting a good robotic prosthetic isn't cheap. They look so realistic you wouldn't notice they aren't real, but most people can't afford them, so they end up going for a cheaper model, usually an illegal one, made by an engineer. It's maybe one of the hardest types of technology to work with, since you have to know medicine too. Connecting a machine to a human body is no joke. But another reason why people get illegal ones is to stay away from hospitals. Every step we take is being recorded, our eyes constantly scanned, all the information in the hands of authorities.
