Oliver had never seen Kurt so despondent. His emotions hit Oliver like a ton of bricks as soon as he stepped in the room. His physical injuries had been patched up. Hank had given him a good dose of antibiotics and pain killers but there was something wrong that medicine couldn't cure. Oliver had seen Kurt's expression on his own face - he had lost hope. Whatever happened on the mission had destroyed him and it was quite possibly the scariest thing Oliver had ever seen. Kurt had been hurt before. Hell, he had died twice. But this was different. For a moment Oliver didn't know what to do. Kurt had always been the 'cheerleader' in their relationship - there for him with encouraging words and plenty of hugs when ever Oliver got in one of his moods. Now Kurt needed him. But what else? He knelt down and took Kurt's hand. After a moment he thought to ask...

I don't normally draw my characters sad. I just don't. Happy after surviving an injury? Yeah sure, I did a few of those. But sad and hopeless - I normally draw my couples happy, laughing, being silly or sleeping. drawing sad things makes me sad... yes I am dummy, leave me alone. I am exactly that artist that makes the face I am drawing - not even in the mirror, I just make the face until I'm done. This came about because I thought about how many times Kurt has seen horrible shit in the comics. Like its an action comic but dude gets stabbed, shot, thrust into his worse nightmares, dies... TWICE and still stays relatively happy when all that horrible crap isn't happening. And I thought about how Oliver would be if the shoe was on the other foot. Kurt is actually the person that encouraged Oliver the most. In their story Kurt helps him adjust to life at the institute, agrees to give their romantic relationship a shot when he realizes they have feelings for each other and is a general ray of sunshine in Oliver's life. But sometimes Kurt hits a wall and needs some comfort.
