So I have a story to tell. When I was 19 I discovered I had a brain tumor the size of a small pear pressing against my cerebrum and pushing brain matter down the back of my neck. I suffered with that growing in my head for 10 years, I lost my soccer career, massive personality changes, loss of memory, and the loss of the ability to carry my own child. Now here's the catch, I can still get pregnant....I am simply not allowed to carry a child due to the rarity of my tumor and due to hormone release it can come back and I won't survive a second time. I am 1 of 13 in the world and medically studied the entire back of my head is titanium and I am missing my top vertebrae. Since 19 I have been fighting to get my tubes tied to prevent the possibility of having an accidental pregnancy because I am not allowed to take birth control due to hormone release and no metal allowed due to MRI'S plus I am very allergic to latex. Now with medical reasoning and the need for the tying of my tubes have I been allowed? No. I am 27 now, it's been rough I've had to do something I never thought I would have to, risking my health and the pain shared by two due to my own illness. Medical access for women isn't given easily, isn't listened to, and not recognized. So to the doctors who have denied me and told me "you will change your mind', "it could be worth the risk", "you husband one day might want kids", and "you're so young". To you I say you have blood on your hands.
I hope eventually I can get this procedure done, as I age it will become easier sadly.
