Well I just couldn't stand this photo anymore: [link] So I went back out to Index, WA and reshot it, this time.I did a little more research of this location, came up with this site: [link] check it out, its a good read.
However, if you are lazy, basically it tells of the huge flood that happened in 2006 that caused a large portion of the road to simply wash out. estimates according to the website state that they might not be able to repair the road for another5 - 10 years.

the road is completely washed out. about half a mile from here, there once was a bridge, and it is completely gone, due to the flood waters. there is no way of crossing this road with any kind of vehicle.
