Oh wow! I used to use Gimp in middle school XD Those were fun times. Β I use Krita now which is another free art program haha
I watched countless tutorials on Youtube but there are also good ones on DA. My advice to you is to look up tutorials based on what you want to learn at that moment
Such as typing into the Youtube or Deviantart search bar:

Gimp drawing tutorial
