Description

Since Peridot is my favorite Steven Universe character and that peridots had a long history with Ancient Egypt, with one example being that it's said that they are actually the gems Cleopatra wore instead of emeralds, I felt it would be interesting to make a fan character of the her species.

Name: Pyramid Peridot

Rank: Aristocrat

Personality: Resorsful, Imaginative, Strict, Serious, Organized, Orderly, Respectful and Responsable though she can also be bad tempered towards hostiles, is rather stubborn with her traditions and some of the time she goes into her own little world with her obsessions.

Likes: Company, Order, Routine, Fine Architecture, other gems who give her respect, Egyptian History and Mythology with her favorite Egyptian God being Horus due to certain events.

Appreciates: Her fellow Peridots who she sees as sisters as well as the palace she and her fellow Peridots worked together to build.

Dislikes: Isolation, Chaos, The Unexpected, Devistated Ruins, those who treat her and her kind like filth, Historic Inaccuracies (though with a few exceptions).

Despises: Silicone Antiverse (arch-nemesis).

rollertroller699.deviantart.co…

Abilities: Possesses Metal Powers much like the rest of her species which she has trained herself in using the tools needed to add the final touches, art and monuments to her palace build by her paid workers. However, due to hostiles, she and her sisters also had to resort to using their metal powers to wield multiple weapons since their own physical combat skills are poor.

Gem: Triangular like the rest of her species and is placed on her chin.

Weapon: Khopesh

Description: Pyramid Peridot, along with others of her species, started as simple technicians that abandoned the order of the Diamonds and went into hiding from their tyranny.
They fortunately evaded the corruption of the Homeworld Diamonds by taking refuge in a gem kindergarten that was build over the ruins of a demolished Egyptian settlement. With no one to give them orders, Pyramid Peridot and her crew had the time to learn about the Egyptian remnants and using their metal powers to wield the tools needed at their disposal, they decided to build their own settlement within the area, leaving their Homeworld past into obscurity with the exception of a few hieroglyphs.

Pyramid Peridot became so fascinated by the Egyptian way of life that she explored Egypt to learn more which helped inspire her creativity to work with the other Peridots in constructing their own miniature dynasty. However, Pyramid Peridot herself became a Noble and founder of her group instead of Pharaoh, believing that her society would work better in an equilibrium where she and her sisters can work together, rather than standing at the top giving out orders. For millennia, these Peridots prospered in their small community and their progress continued to raise more impressive structures and works of art praising the Egyptian myths in a functioning society. So for a while, Pyramid Peridot believed that peace would be as eternal as the Egyptian gods themselves...

And then Silicone Antiverse suddenly reared her hideous mugshot, as if out of nowhere, and ferociously went on a rampage, trashing the entire place and shattering Peridots like a deranged wild animal! Outraged by this defiler, Pyramid Peridot and her sisters were forced to train their metal manipulating skills in the art of telekinetic combat to fight off the vicious assailant until they managed to revert Silicone back into her fake gem and seal her in a scepter! Once they did so, they locked her away in the deepest and darkest of the catacombs inside a stone tomb, graffitied with hieroglyphs demonizing Silicone as a loathsome fusion of the chaos god Seth (Set) and the demon serpent Apophis (Apep) with Pyramid Peridot depicted as Horus slaying her! Unfortunately, the scepter was stolen by desperate robbers during a time of famine and drought that struck the humans living nearby. Whatever happened to the thieves was unknown and Pyramid Peridot didn't bother to hunt them down, believing that Silicone's presence in her area actually caused the harsh conditions at the time.

Yet her belief in Silicone bringing forth plague to her society became less far fetched as her palace and town started to decay and crumble. It turns out that Silicone's impurity actually poisons the land just as badly as the Kindergarten Injectors. With her home in ruins, Pyramid Peridot and her crew search across Egypt for the right place to start a new settlement. Little did they know that they are going to need to join forces with greater, more powerful groups, as Silicone had emerged from her counterfeit gem and is starving for vengeance!

This is a character concept for the egyptian-empire group.

Wow! I really enjoy reading the background story, it's interesting to see how you put the gems theory with historical elements! And ohhh her power is really awesome! And it's funny to see before people thought that Cleopatra wore emeralds instead of peridots. In fact, emeralds are a little bit greener that peridots, and they're a kind of gems that was popular in the Imperial family in China during Ming and Qing dynasty. History can be a very good inspiration!

Thank you very much! I wanted to use a lot of sources from both history and the show, including Peridot's metal powers as well. The account of Cleopatra was one of the reasons I choose to design a Peridot fan character. Actually, I have my lead OC, Master Fiendish, use a Nephrite, Jadeite and Emerald cane since those three Gems including Peridots are some of my favorite green gemstones due to their science, history and mythology. The Emerald was also said to once be on the crown of Lucifer, until it broke during his defeat in the Great War at the hands of Saint Michael and a piece of it was placed on the Holy Grail. And thanks for letting me know more history around it as well, I need to look up more on the Emeralds in China.

Wow! Didn't know that part of the Emerald history! AAaand now I'm curious about what is about Master Fiendish now!

It's in return for the Chinese history. Some other things I will mention about Master Fiendish is that he actually is not aware that the Emerald of the cane is actually a piece stolen from the Third Eye of my version of Satan in which it's capabilities is that of Prescience. In my lore, I also have included the Ruby Heart of Satan's substitute to the Antichrist and my former lead OC, Sir Peccatori, in which it's capabilities is that of Power, and the Sapphire brain of Pec's instructor, Vice, in which its capabilities are that of Sentience. So although Fiendish is not a demon and does not intend to be pure malevolence, his last name dose an inadvertent connection, even though he is more inspired by mustache-twirling melodramatic Villains.

Oh wow! I should really admire that you did so many researches on the story of gems and use them into your character's story! And I just take a quick look at the design of them, it's really neat! And I think the inspiration from the mustache-twirling melodramatic Villains is really cool as well, mustache can be a important element of a character!

Thank you, and I also have a lot of books on gemstones as well. And thanks for seeing the designs of each of my characters as well. I always thought that Mustache-Twirlers were amusing and I felt it would be great for a next lead OC following my previous one.

I wrote the seven chapters of my first Fiendish story so far;

Master Fiendish  Profile (or current front cover)

Master Fiendish Chapter 1: The Mastermind

Master Fiendish Chapter 2: The Dragon

Master Fiendish Chapter 3: The Vengeful

Master Fiendish Chapter 4: The Three Monarchs

Master Fiendish Chapter 5: The Destroyer

Master Fiendish Chapter 6: The Creator

Master Fiendish Chapter 7: The Yin and the Yang

and the next one will be a short story of the three battling a corrupted Superhero Villain Archetype named Admiral Judgement.

Though I'm still rather new to the series I like the idea of an Egyptian version of Peridot since she's most likely my fave character from the series as well. Her general design is pretty nice, the colors seem to match quite nicely and I like her description of how she becomes fascinated by the Egyptian culture as well as her hatred for Silicone Antiverse

Thank you so much! To be honest, the problem with the Steven Universe cartoon is that it is really slow when it comes to building up its plot and characters and the series has come a long way since it's first few episodes and until the episode, Catch and Release, I actually did not care much about Peridot before, as I thought she was nothing more than a reverse Wile-E Coyote, using elaborate tricks to escape her perusers. It's great that she's your favorite character as well and I'm glad you like the design of my fan character and her backstory.

Let me say that i adore the design of Pyramid Peridot and the idea of putting her gem on the chin is pretty neat I enjoyed reading your description as always ^_^ i like how detailed and well built is and the effort to balance the fictional aspect with the historical one. I like how Silicone Antiverse is depicted as a fusion between Seth (one of my favourite Neteru) and Apep (the scariest Neter). Poor Peridots i am with them. I like the simple background it makes me focus better on Pyramid Peridot good job mhhmhmh.....I think my Tanzanite could be a little suspicious since she has some not so good experiences with Peridots but she doesn't hate them as she hates quartzes.

EDIT: i forgot to add you improved very well with outlines, they are more neat^^

Thank you so much!
I could not resist the idea of the pyramid shape on the head and the gem placed on the chin along with the eye liner and the clothes with gold jewels for my Peridot fan character.

I really enjoyed blending in the Egyptian elements with the Peridot species and describing how their world would function as a society. Silicone at this point is little more than a plot devise and my excuse to throw in a conflict than a true character. Yet I wanted to mention Set, Apep and Horus because in early Egyptian mythology, Set would guard the sun god Ra from Apep's attempts to assault him, yet later on due to foreigners attacking Egypt, later myths would have Set (who was also a God of foreigners) as a small hippo being hunted down and slain by Horus, I learnt some of that from one of the episodes in the Documentary, Out of Egypt, which talked about the Devil. So I thought it would be interesting to have the Peridots retaliate by demonizing Silicone in a similar way due to how much of a threat she is and I wanted Pyramid Peridot to look as if she's going to hurl her arch nemeses into the trash bin.

I think Pyramid Peridot would actually feel a sense of regret if she were to have found out how Tanzanite was treated in the Delta Kindergarten, especially if those of her species took part.

I'm also glad you like how I improved on the lines. Thank you.

You are welcome

You blended in a balanced way these elements and i like it.

I learnt some of that from one of the episodes in the Documentary, Out of Egypt, which talked about the Devil. Yeah i watched that documentary although i already knew about Set and his role changing because i like Egyptian mythology and culture, too bad this ancient religion is no more it's always a shame when an ancient cult disappears.

I think Pyramid Peridot would actually feel a sense of regret if she were to have found out how Tanzanite was treated in the Delta Kindergarten, especially if those of her species took part.Maybe Tanzanite could learn to trust peridots in a future. Mhmmhmh one day we could make interact our gems ^_^

Thank you.
It's too bad the ancient religions such as Egypt are no longer practiced since they are quite intruiging to know about.
We could have the two interact someday since Pyramid Peridot welcomes gems that rebelled against the Homeworld diamonds.

My Tanzanite hates Homeworld gems but despises all gems in general, maybe with time she will learn to accept them, she has a lot to learn in terms of emotions, feelings and mental achievments.

Thank you very much. It's quite tricky to create original gem characters especially when trying to find a unique gem, I even tried purple sapphire once, so most of the ones I make are fan characters. The other SU fan character I made besides Silicone Antiverse is Plastic Pearl.

Cool! I've only made my first gem recently. Surprisingly there aren't that many emerald gemsonas that follow the show or aren't Mary Sue....... I tend to find you just need to look up a colour, or maybe go and look into the history of a place to see if there were many mines or if they were known for their love for a certain gem

Really nice work! I had not been previously aware of the long history peridots had with ancient Egypt (I once heard they had something to do with Hawaii, I do believe, but not Egypt), so it's good to know about that. I really like the design, combining Peridot with the classic egyptian look (I also like the pyramid helmet and the gem placement. Nice touches). Nice backstory as well. Overall, really good job with her!

Thank you very much! Peridots were also said to be the gems of the sun and other accounts say that if placed in gold they would ward of the evils of the night. I actually didn't know much about their association with Hawaii before. I'm glad you like my combination with the appearance and I couldn't resist the gem placement and pyramid style on the head, as well as my backstory on her.

You are quite welcome! I do enjoy even more interesting facts about their relationship to Egypt, so thanks for that. As for Hawaii, well, Peridots there are believed to be a gift from the fire goddess Pele, sometimes called the "tears of Pele". There's even a beach in Hawaii that is colored green due to the abundance of Olivine crystals, which are what make up Peridot. Apparently they were believed to have great healing power, and brought great wealth and growth. There's even a marketing campaign calling Peridot the "Hawaiian Diamond." Very interesting in my opinion.
