Description I was in the holiday mood so I thought I'd draw something. Of course nothing is complete without humor.

My second attempt at photoshop. Used the fill and burn tools to color it. I'm new to photoshop so if there is an easier way to do this tell me please!

Happy Holidays!

Nice pic; I like the holly you put by the Triceraton's eye.

(If you would like to see a Triceraton TV series, please leave a comment saying so on my journal; I'm trying to get statistics for 4kids showing that people would watch it. Thanks.)

Funny!

Not bad for a second time coloring in PS too. You have the sense of the shading down pretty good. But a few tips I could offer to improve.

PS is nice in that it also lets you build up layers. Hopefully, you have a good sense of all the features in PS now too. (otherwise, you may not follow me well)

What I do, is scan in the drawing at a high resolution (like around 150 to 300), at a grayscale setting (so that the pencil lines remain smooth). Then I clean it up by adjusting the Brightness/Contrast levels to make the smudges go away.

Then, I go to the layer pallate window, and add a couple more layers. Grab these layers in the palatte with your mouse window, to move them below the linae art layer you scanned in. You may have to double click on your lineart layer first to "unlock" it, before youcan move layers underneath.

One of those layers will be the background, and the other will be the layer you color on. The lineart layer should be above the layer you color on. But.. you'll notice that the lineart layer is solid. Nothing underneath it will show through.

Here's a cool trick I do to make the while parts of the lineart turn invisible, so I don't have to erase the white out. The layer pallate also has settings for each layer. It's a drop down box on the top right part (provided you have PS 6 and up). Select the Multiply layer, and that will make you lineart become invisible.

Now, select your layer for coloring on,and then go to the lasso tool. Change it so it is the Sticky Lasso tool. I find if I "trace" around the line art sections, by clicking along the lineart, I can make nice blocked in areas I can fill in with solid colors real easy. That's also how I make cell shading styles too. I use that stickly lasso tool to create areas to fill in, using the burn and dodge tools, or different shades of paint.

Of course, some visuals on how to do that would be nice too. Here's some links to places that offer nice tutorials on how to color in PS as well.

>> Polykarbon.com
>> art tutorials galore
>> GFX Artists tutorials (more advanced, but still cool)

Thankyou for the links. I'll check them out because all that stuff you said I really don't know. As I said... I am very new to photoshop.
