Hey there!With a lack of ponified Windows start buttons, I felt inclined to make my own. I'm not much of a graphics artist, but I think I did a pretty decent job.
What this does is it replaces your Windows start button/orb, with an orb containing the color and cutie mark of one of 33 different ponies, the list is below:
Pack 1:

Anyways, as far as installation goes:
Step 0:
This pack is for Windows 7. However, thanks to pointing it out, you can actually use this one Windows 8 if you use Classic Shell , which apparently allows you to make your Windows 8 experience more like that of Windows 7. Thanks for the heads up!
Step 1:
Download the Windows 7 Start Orb Changer here:

Step 2:
Unzip and run the program, and click the "Change" button, which should open up a folder view prompt box.
Step 3:
Drag your desired (or all) pony start orb into the prompt box, select the one you wish to use, and click "Open".
Step 4:
Your screen should refresh, and congrats: your desktop is now 20% cooler!
P.S. For those of you who downloaded this from the Equestria Digital pack:
The start buttons in there are old, and don't contain all the ones in the official pack here (only 16 vs 33). In addition, the program that they distribute causes the buttons to render incorrectly. Be sure to use the one I link above for the best results.

This is the complete set of 33 (both packs at 16 each, plus Queen Chrysalis as a bonus). Rather than having them uploaded separately, it made more sense to pack them both together. Not all of the start buttons are shown in the preview above obviously, so some you'll just have to check out for yourself!

These look awesome, and the installation went smooth as silk, but the edges seem really rough on my end. It's almost like they need anti-aliasing, especially on the mouse-over icon. Could it possibly be my resolution (1600x900)?

I used the Rainbow Dash Orb (Like the preview), and like I said, I get really rough edges for whatever reason .

Wow, that is interesting. I'm rather curious though as to why you have 2 of them on your task bar? It should only be to replace the start button, not to serve as an icon. perhaps that is the problem?
Unfortunately, all of the Windows 7 computers I've tested it on work as expected. It shouldn't be resolution, as I followed the same methods and specifications as the default start orb.

Oh no, the 2nd one was just to show the glow when you mouse over it.
I think I MAY have found the problem: I was using the changer included with Equestria Digital, not the one in the description. Using that one on my desktop, it seems just fine.I'll try it on my laptop next time I get a chance.

The Bon-bon one was rather difficult given her colors, but I did the best I could, so I hope it's good enough hehe. Only 4 in the pack for now, but I've decided on the other 12 I want for it, so now to just find the time

Dang... This gets added to #EquestrialDigital and suddenly I'm getting all sorts of comments and favorites! Not that I'm complaining though, glad people enjoy it
Still stuck on whether or not to do a second set, since this one covers most of the popular ones, I'm still not sure what I'd include, and Windows 8 is still around the corner. I did end up finishing the male and female wonderbolts for a friend though, and was rather pleased with how they came out.

They are saved as BMP files, which aren't tied to any particular program. You may just have GIMP set as your default editor?
Following the instructions above should work. Just run the program, click change, drag the image you want into that window, and then select it.
