As for his personality and bio...why don't I just let the Prologue from "ThunderHearts: The Rogue Valley Mustangs" say it for me?

Prologue
********
In the early dawn of long ago, The Being of Creation looked down upon the great land of the West and decided to call forth the Spanish conquerors. These men did not know why they were summoned to this New World, nor who summoned them, but they did come with their armies and their horses. The Being of Creation broke free these magnificent beasts to roam the Land for hundreds of years. Then, The Being called upon another man by the name of Columbus, who did know him. This man, who respected The Being, brought many special men and horses with him to the Great Western Lands. The horses that Columbus brought with him pleased The Being of Creation and he did bless them. After several hundred more years, a colt was born, his front half black as night with snowy splashes upon his dark coat; his back half, white as a star with patches of ebony painted upon his glorious body. His mane and tail were silver, and shone brighter then the sun. The Being smiled upon this colt and touched him with the gift of insight. As the colt grew, he noticed his family argued about whom they were to serve. Some said Man was the true Master of the Earth and that they were to be slaves unto him. Other believed they should worship themselves. And the colt, brave as a lion with the wisdom of a wolf, stepped forward and spoke of the Great Being of Creation; that he should be worshiped, loved and obeyed. The others disagreed, and drove the colt away. The Being, however, was so proud of the colt, that he led him to a beautiful, rich land of waterfalls, wild rivers, safe forests and high mountains. And the Being said to him,
“Behold, young colt, the Valley of the Rogue; from the mighty Rogue River to the shady Wolf Creek; from the dark caves to the high falls of the Butte. Here, you will worship me. And here I will bless you with food, protection and laws. But be aware, when your herd is formed, you will not invite foreign mares and stallions, for they will corrupt your beliefs. If any stranger is to sojourn among you, I will turn my face from you.”
And the colt said to Him,
“Here me, Great Being of Creation. I will obey you and your laws. I will not open my home to foreign horses, nor will I ever turn away from you.”
The Being was so pleased, he opened the Heavens and touched his Spirit with the colts’.
“Your name is Thunder, and you shall rule over this Land that I have given to you.”
Thunder perked up his ears and nickered.
“And what shall I call my herd, Great Being?”
Suddenly, a bolt of lightening shot through the sky and down to Thunder’s feet, cutting through the mountain and creating a canyon, which the swift Rogue River flowed through. Then, with a voice mightier then an earthquake, the Great Being shouted,
“YOU WILL BE MY THUNDERHEARTS!”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
And as Thunder grew into a great stallion, The Being was pleased and blessed him again with a herd of beautiful painted and spotted mares. Thunder, too, kept his promise, and taught his mares about The Great Being and protected them from foreign horses.
And it came to pass that Thunder, who had become old, spoke with his son. He said,
“Tornado, I have ruled this land for 600 moons, and have kept it pure as I promised The Great Being. He calls back my Spirit to the Heavens and wishes you to take my place.”
And his son answered,
“Father, I will take this herd and make it prosperous, as you have, and will always obey The Great Being.”
Thunder half-closed his emerald eyes.
“Do not fall into temptation, my son. The Valley of the Rogue only belongs to us if we stay loyal to the Being. Make sure your own son knows this when your Spirit is ready to leave your body.”
And the Great Thunder passed away, leaving all that the Being had given to him to his son, Tornado, who was good.
Many more years came and went, and Tornado had a son; Twister. But Twister’s heart bred disbelief and unfaithfulness. He did not believe in what he could not see, and so denounced the existence of the Great Being, despite Tornado’s preaching.
And when the day came that Tornado’s Spirit galloped from his body, Twister became the new leader of the ThunderHearts, and he did take in foreign mares whose ears he’d kept shut from the Being. Twister allowed the Rogue to become infested with bachelor herds, who brought with them disease and parasites from the outside lands. Foals were born, their sires; unknown, and many new mares brought with them their own foals from herds far away. And the Being, disappointed and hurt, turned His face from the ThunderHearts, leaving them vulnerable to destroy themselves.
