Oh yeah...this is what I think is hidden under Double D's hat. An enlarged cranium concealing his ginormous brain! With pulsating veins and all....In one of the episodes (the title of which escapes me), Double D's hat pops off. Coupled with their shocked reactions, Eddy mutters "Geez Louise!", while all Ed can say is "Cool!"
Given Ed's facsination with disturbing images, I figure this is what they were looking at (minus Edd's menacing and downright evil look).
Done with sharpie and colored pencils.

I've always thought the same about Double D too. He's kinda like Mojo Jojo in a way, using his hat to hide his oversized brain.
I mean he's the smartest of the group and perhaps the only one with good sense. I figure he wears the hat to hide this, and also to fit in with the other less sensible folks there.

I believe you! I always thought it was either something like what you just showed, or his head was covered in terrible scars! Like what if he was born with his brains squishing out or if he got in an accident, as a baby, and his shattered skull fragments lacerated his scalp in multiple regions, leaving permanent and elevated masses of damaged tissue, like because maybe his dad threw him into a wall, in a drunken fit, because he somehow miraculously managed to impregnate his wife, after finding out that they were both practically sterile and he wanted a girl, but got Double Dee instead. Now neither parent is ever home and they communicate through sticky notes, in all their shame and they seem overprotective at times but the truth is they don't really care, as long as the chores are done!!!! Or maybe not. Lol

The hat has been genetically engineered to relieve the cranium of the massive brain. When placed on the head, the brain, by method of osmosis, is absored into the hat. When the hat is removed, the brain seeps slowly back into the skull, again, by method of osmosis.
It has eyes. It's just sleeping right now.

I always thought that Double-D, like Frylock from ATHF had a blue crystal under his head, and underneath that blue crystal was a VCR.
Of course, this is a pretty good guess too.
