Description
The idea for this came to me while at school, following the Day of Silence... I liked it.The rainbow is the color of peace, when red is on top, however, it stands for gay pride, so I left it at that. Now, the heterosexual couple being on top does not mean "superiority" or anything-- I just thought the design looked more organized that way. In the middle. If it had been placed on the bottom, it would have looked too crowded.
If you wish to use this design on a shirt for personal use (meaning you're not going to be selling them), or something, feel free do to so, just give credit where credit is due, please.

That's cool, for a year I've been questioning myself and in responce drew a sexual pride collage. I drew it aa one of my "10 facts of life" this being #6. That is a clever of putting it, even as a peace-nik myself I never would have thought of that.
Peace ^_^ ZenLay

ack- I hate that mindset. Dx If he were a true Christian, he would do what Jesus would do and love all people regardless of what or who they are. (I mean, he hung out with sinners and prostitutes!)

What's beautiful is the guy that thought of the peace sign didn't copyright or trademark it for a reason. No one ever has. It's a symbol thought up for the people to be free. So it's a free symbol for anyone who wishes to use it.

Christains who persecute anyone are hypocrits; that makes me sick, and even I being a Christain as well. I have friends who are bi and gay and love them very much as friends and respect them as people--that is who they are, people. In fact, we all should care for everyone despite any religion, race, etc. And the least we could do is respect them as a human, even if we do not agree with what they like. I myself do not agree with homosexuality or bisexuality, and do believe you are not born that way, but I also think you could not choose that lifestyle too. It would take too many words to explain to too many ears who would care less to hear, so I will decide not to get into much detail--but in conclusion I would like to say I respect you homosexuals and bisexuals, and care about your wellness, and we all should.

Very pretty! I have different beliefs as far as homosexual/bisexual/transgenders are concerned, but I still like the concept behind this =]
I also think that the correct peace sign is without the third bar, but I am influenced by what my parents believe (we're Jewish, though not exactly religious, but they're highly spiritual. I have yet to decide what I'm going to do with myself xDD).

Likewise because of my beliefs but the symbol is definitely inspiring and creative. In fact I'm also working on a piece involving the male and female symbols. Let's hope I'll finish it in a few weeks…
Do you mind some ideas to tweak it ? Here there're :
* Only rainbow the crossing lines and color the rest in black.
* Black symbol, rainbow the white inner zones.
* Don't repeat the gradient to only display 6 colors like on the rainbow flag.
I'm sure there're very creative ways to play with the arrows and crosses but I haven't figured them out yet. We'll see…
Good job. Peace & Love ! An other inspiring LGBT deviation to check out : GLCS We Are Family ([link] ) by ~Slyjester .
Note : I think the rainbow only symbolizes peace when it has 7 colors. According to the French Wikipedia it's a historical reference to a European peaceful movement (Source : "Arc-en-ciel" article at [link] ).

thanks.
That is why I did a bit of research regarding the peace sign-- when I was younger I was told it was "Anti-Christian" and such, and therefore was against it for a bit. However, upon researching it, it has a history that makes sense: Created during while there were worries over nuclear bombs, it was designed for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It uses the semaphore letters "N" and "D". The symbol itself is symbolic: with the "D[isarmament]" being over the "N[uclear]", it is saying it's anti-military. The symbol is also not copyrighted, so it's free of use, going along with the freedom movement. [link]
However, there is also talk of possible older origins, giving it the definition of death (which I could also argue against myself that those against nuclear weapons would see them as a sign of death), but then one must look to the artist, and what he says, ultimately, should go, right?

My parents believe the whole occult movement about the upside-down cross being used by satan-worshippers and stuff. I think we give too much power to symbols in general, but I just put my hands up and say "Okay, Mum, I'll take the bar off the bottom whenever I draw it." PEACE, PARENTS! -peacesignsthem- xDDD
I personally think that if the peace sign some people believe to be evil, is used in good will, we really shouldn't bother ourselves over how everybody else thinks of it. Why bring more conflict over a little gliph? It's as good as battling over the proper pronounciation of the word 'nuclear' (new-clee-er, instead of 'new-cyoo-ler' xDD) rather than being pro Nuclear Disarmament, or whatever it is, I don't pretend to be an expert.
What matters, in my opinion, is peace, and if people are going to argue over a tiny little symbol like that...Then I guess what my parents believe is the truth, and 'satan worshippers' and trying to 'creating evil' within the normal, everyday joe's lives by making small psychological wars that could progress onto a larger scale. But I won't get into my definitions of evil, that would be so boring for everybody else, haha.
BUT, having said that, if we look back at the ancient times when it was considered evil by a lot of people, I think it's safe to say that even if it isn't a literal danger of the actual sign, there is some code I'm not clever enough to understand behind it, and that unless both you and I know much, much more about it, the debate cannot be carried out to a further extent and remain clear, logical and reasonable in anybody's mind. Still, I love hearing other people's take on it all, it's extremely refreshing, and I always come away wondering, and re-thinking all my own opinions =].

yes, I agree-- it is, after all, just a symbol... sometimes people want to read way much more into it than it really is. When my older sister went through this On-fire-for-God phase, she went around denouncing peace signs, mood rings, and burnt my other sister's CD collection, probably worth $1k. XD You will have your extremists on all sides.... luckily she is no longer like that and gets embarrassed when the story is brought up. xP
I've never really understood what taking the bottom bar accomplished, perhaps you could explain it to me? I do know however, there is some car whose logo is like the peace sign without the bottom bar... there was this one Zits comic in the newspaper some 5 years ago or so where Jeremy made this sweatshirt that was supposed to be a peace sign, and then his friend, Sarah, pointed out it was some car's logo, because it was missing the bottom bar, and he got all flustered. XD it was funny...
Like you said, peace is peace-- if a sign is said to represent peace, why try to counter it saying it's something else, and by doing so, breaking the peace? If people could live in harmony and peace, the world would be a much better place... not fearing for your life every time you walk out into the street, no wars, no worries... not to say that everybody was the same, but that people respected each other, and could live with each other even with different opinions peacefully.
x) I don't mind debates, given that the debaters are respectful of others' opinions, and debate in a mature fashion. It's good to learn both sides of the story with an open mind, even if you may no necessarily agree with a certain side. It's also why I do try to research sides a bit, so I don't end up making some remark that makes me look ignorant and that I don't know what I'm talking about. XD It's all in good fun, except sometimes I end up creating a debate against myself...
off topic, yes.

Haha, I chuckled out loud at the 'burning of the CD's'. Which are, as you must agree with me, most satanic un-G_dly objects. -seriousnod- xDD Ahem, my sarcasm has gotten the better of me...>.>
I don't think it's so much that one little line creates a world of difference, that's silly, but it's that one sign is believed to be associated with Satan in some, er, social circles, and the other is just a peace sign that some would remark looks funky without the bottom bar. By using what my parents call the 'incorrect symbol' you are, indirectly, supporting the cause, so they say. Buuuut, there's a whole lot of stuff that goes along with that, and it sounds like a ridiculous suggestion unless you know more about, it, I suppose.
Zitz is awesome xD Yeah it's the Mercedez-Benz logo, the peace sign without the bar; sometimes, when I'm driving around in our car with my parents and we see one, it sparks the conversation...-sigh-
I enjoy debating as well <3 But like you said, it's best when both sides of the arguement know what they're talking about and can respect each other's beliefs. Haha, I do so many stupid things it embarrasses me to think about it, when I debate. Especially online, when I have Wikipedia on my side to give me false ideas about things, >.< But DR has been very helpful in developing my opinions and 'debaters tact', though I've gotten worked up over some stuff and had to erase mile-long replies xDD I seem to do it more and more after 'Firexfalcon' posts, haha, I clash a little with his/her ideas...
Debating can be very beneficial, I agree with you. You hear somebody talking about something you've never heard about, and do some research on it so you can add a small quip and be part of the conversation without much conviction, and you learn a load of things you never would have before. Plus, you get to see other's opinion on the subject, and that can influence your interpretation of it all as well.
