I recently recieved one of those types of gifts that means more, in it's own little way, then you can really feasibley put into words - because it's so heartfelt and perfect in it's intentions, you know you'll love it for as long as it's around. *ren52 mailed me this awesome little sketchbook - and by little, I mean roughly 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, cute sort of little, that literally makes for a perfect fit in my smock pocket at work - its size lets me haul it around pretty much everywhere, so I have this newfound determination to put it to as much use as possible. I've dubbed it the MSB - the Mini Sketch Book. This is a Mel in love, baby.

I'll post pages as I get them done - not every one, per say, and maybe not in order, but I'll try and keep things flowing with it where and when I can.

Started this image at work, and finished it when I got home this evening. Not a whole lot of time invested, because the style itself calls for quick movement. It's fun. Anyway, for the first page, I decided to illustrate... a first. I jokingly refer to it as Kayo and Sabretooth's "first date", because as you can see... Victor is SUCH a charmer.

In NXU verse the pair have know eachother since Kayo was fifteen. This scene literally takes place withing the first 24 hours of that remarkbley crooked relationship.

"A bustling, grubby, smoke-asphyxiated road side eatery annexed to the crooked little convenience store. Cheyenne found herself practically glued to Creed's flank, eyes wide, heart pounding as he all but shoved his way through the seedy venue, chock full of the type of urban, truck-cabin scum that she had spent months on the run trying to avoid. They were everywhere - she could smell them. Danger looming about in bulky coats and flannels and faded threadbare Levis. Dangerous to her, anyway, she gathered, as Creed seem to barely register their presence as he bouldered his way for the neared booth, the thick smokey air practically folding around him in waves. They certainly were no threat in his mind. While shifty sneers were cast her way, the strangers practically dove under the table in efforts to avoid the Monster Man's gaze. Cheyenne found this rather amusing."

That is not to say that, upon further inspection and a lingeringly creepy conversation, Cheyenne isn't a bit... freaked out. She's still in a marked amount of pain from the first flow-blown exposition of her pyrokinetic capabilities through an already rather unhealthy body, her arms now wrapped against the burns from exactly that.... nevermind the fact that the feral man before her was completely ripped up by a barrage of artilary less than four hours prior, and he's now skulking about with a few minor cuts... cuts of which she's watching literally mend themself as he speaks. What's worse is the way he keeps staring at her... sniffing her out...

Chey: "What?"
Vic: *sneers* "Isn't every day y'see th' devils' eyes on a drowned rat."
Chey: "... fuck you."

...Now that's love.
