I finally had the chance to photograph a wild male American Kestrel. this one allowed me to approach, though the photo is still cropped quite a bit.Marine Park, Brookyln New York

The bird looks so curiously at the viewer and I like the beautiful pattern of the plume.

One of my favorite they are so sassy
(saw a photo yesterday on a CA bird facebook page - of a kestrel with a BAT! makes sense but would have never thought...)

It's an adult bird. No idea on exact aging.
