You and me both with the sharpness
I plan on trying again when I have more light to play with and hopefully I can get a faster shutter speed along with shooting more open. The "pattern" in the background is from a sumac tree [link] the leaves are blurred waaaaay in the background.
It's good that you commented on my watermark - gives me assurance that I may finally be at a good point with it!
Thanks for the critique! I appreciate it!

This is a fantactic capture, thank you for sharing! I appreciate that you managed to capture such moment. The wings of the right bird are a bit blurry, but it adds to the dynamics of the photo and as the left bird is very sharp, I do not count it as a negative. Composition is great and I apprecite quite interesting background - it seems like there were some ornaments in the green field. I would only advice you to make the colours more vivid, as it would make the photo more interesting e.deviantart.net/emoticons/n/n… " width="15" height="15" alt="

Very nice photo! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="

Thank you, woxys! The bird on the right is just out of the focused depth of field, so aside from movement, she is also slightly out of focus anyway. I do wish I had thought about that while taking the photo! I'll try again today with a smaller f-stop The tree in the background is a sumac which has many small leaves per branch with lighter green buds (which will soon turn red)

Really captures the emotion in the one standing there.
Kinda blurry, but maybe it's because it was shot thru glass (my photos never look good when there's glass between it and the subject), but it's a great photo to look at.
Are these males fighting over territory? I'm in the west USA so there's absolutely no cardinal type birds, mainly house sparrows, and those guys are super social.

Thank you! There is a huge difference in quality when I shoot through glass than when I shoot without it in-between, especially when I have to crop. I try to sharpen what is in focus, hopefully without it looking too bad. Though the bird on the right is out of the focal range slightly so aside from her movement, she is out of focus.
This is a Mom coming in to feed her newly fledged baby. The adult males have a much more brilliant red [link]

Ahh, I understand now! Since we don't have these birds around, I normally don't know what the sexual differences are.
