Description I went to a local Nature Preserve with ~SageKorppi on a 70 degree mid-October day for some fall photos. Of course, I left my telephoto lens on, so my photos were limited aside from when we ran into these Robins feasting on berries. They wouldn't come out in the open, but we both caught this little guy as we were about to leave that area.

The Berries are called autumn olives (an invasive plant). They made a great back drop for your robin.

Surprising that they would be invasive plants. They are very dominant in this area of the preserve, but I was under the impression that they removed invasive plants regularly

Nice photo!

That is American Robin? I thought at first that Robin is European Robin ("The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula), most commonly known in Anglophone Europe simply as the Robin--")

This is an American Robin. European Robins look very different and are not found in North America

I've seen only European Robins and I didn't even know that Turdus migratorius is also Robin in Enlish and I was really confused for a moment.

From what I understand, they aren't even remotely related. Our Robin is a thrush and I think the European one is a Flycatcher? Way to be confusing

Gyps fulvus has the most confusing bird name I know. In Finnish Griffon Vulture is "hanhikorppikotka" and in English the Finnish name means "goose raven eagle".

A really lovely shot! I tend to overlook Robins just because I see them so much, but then tada~ suddenly you remember how pretty they can be too.
