awesome photo goshawks eyes change color three times in their lives. Blue when hatched, yeloow in the adolescent years, and blood red as seen here in their adult lives. How many bunnies did they catch!

Thank you This was the PA meet. I was out only for one day - I go to photograph my friend's birds and watch from the sidelines. We had no real chases except for one on a squirrel. We weren't going for squirrels at all, but the Gos went after it... almost had it. It was still a fun day because I was able to go out with some species that I've never seen hunt before, including the Gos's and an Ornate Hawk Eagle.

Thanks I was surprised that they were so dark. The younger Goshawk I saw earlier in the day had such bright eyes!

I see the bird's eye a bit too dark, probably due to the photo conditions. In Spain old goshawks have got scarlet red eyes. They are breathtaking beautiful (independently where they come from).

This particular bird did not have bright eyes. I assume it's because she is very old. The younger one I also got to hunt with had much brighter eyes.

Wow, I had no idea anyone had one in Pa. I asked my sponsor about it and he found out who it was. It's a guy he knows. (My sponsor used to be a vice president for the club a while back). Still can't believe the guy HUNTED with it! Blows my mind!

The bird hunted from the glove and looked like she had TWO trackers attached. I was disappointed not to see any real flights from her, but still glad to see the bird - especially in natural light. I was more expecting to see her inside. Maybe he'll bring her next year too!

I won't be in Pa for the meets at all, I'm spending winters in Oklahoma now (Hoping to go to an Oklahoma meet this year ). I still am in disbelief that anyone has a bird like that! My sponsor said last time he saw one for sale, it was around 30 grand.

I'm not sure which future ones I will be at. I don't fly birds, I just photograph them, so it depends on who is going that I know. I've met a lot of great falconers though!!

As of right now, I will be spending pretty much all of my winters in Oklahoma. But you should come to the Pa Ren Faire sometime and check out the birds I work with. I have seen some people get some really cool shots of them during our show

That's very tempting! I'll have to consider it - hopefully it's in the spring or summer? I'd love to photograph these birds when it is actually warm out!

It's on the weekends of August, September, and October. Plenty of warm days, and a few cold ones! We are there every weekend and we do shows with the birds throughout the day.

Yeah, it was a pleasure to watch them hunt. This one gave up too quickly on the one small mammal she went after, but the younger one had a few good flights.

a very striking pic, the feather texture seems to me to be suggestive of a japanese painting.
