Description Found a new mantis in our garden over the weekend. Since we keep naming them 'Lucky' this one is Lucky III. This one hides himself quite well within the leaves, so getting a good shot is difficult.

Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 II IS

Incredible. I was really shocked when I saw the lens used for this. I think I should have gotten that extension set instead of the macro lens I just bought. (Tamron 90mm)

Great find. How big was it?

Even better than this kit lens, I get much more detail when I use one of my L telephoto lenses with the extension tubes - they allow you to get so close. Detail would still be better with a macro, but it's a good alternative.

Trying to think back... the mantis was probably as large as a hand (but obviously skinnier)
